California Breeders' Champion Stakes is an American Thoroughbred horse race held annually since 1935 at Santa Anita Park in Arcadia, California.

Run during the last week of December, the seven Furlong race is open to two-year-old horses bred in the State of California. The race currently offers a purse of $125,000. [1]

In winning the 2007 edition, Bob Black Jack set a new Santa Anita track record of 1:20.37 for seven furlongs on synthetic dirt. In the 2009 running, the race was set at one and one/sixteenth miles.

Bayakoa was a Thoroughbred Champion racehorse bred in Argentina. After racing successfully in that country, Bayakoa was sold to Janis and Frank Whitham and subsequently raced in the United States, mainly in California. In the course of her career, Bayakoa won 13 Grade I stakes races including back-to-back renewals of the Breeders' Cup Distaff. She was the American Champion Older Female Horse of both 1989 and 1990 and was subsequently inducted into the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame. In the Blood-Horse magazine List of the Top 100 Racehorses of the 20th Century, she was ranked 95th.

Balla Cove was an Irish-bred Thoroughbred racehorse and sire who competed in Britain and the United States. He was at his best as a two-year-old in 1989 when he was placed in the Bernard Van Cutsem Stakes and the Solario Stakes before recording an upset victory in the Middle Park Stakes and running creditably on dirt in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile. He was then transferred to race in the United States where he ran consistently without recapturing his best juvenile form, recording two minor wins in twenty-three starts over the next two seasons. He was retired from racing to become a breeding stallion in Ireland but made little impact as a sire of winners.

Goodbye Halo was an American Thoroughbred racehorse and broodmare. A daughter of the noted sire Halo, she won 10 graded stakes races over a race career spanning from ages two to four. Following her racing career, she was sent to Japan for broodmare duty and most notably produced the sire King Halo.

McKinzie is an American Thoroughbred racehorse who was a multiple graded stakes winner and came first or second in fourteen of his eighteen races.
