Callum Leander William McNish (born 25 May 1992 in Oxford) is an English footballer who plays for Didcot Town as a midfielder.

Club career

McNish began his football career at Watford playing left midfield. Former Saints scout Malcolm Elias then brought Callum to the Saints Academy to play at Under 12's level and he has continued to rise through the ranks. [2]

He was named on the substitutes bench for the first time at Nottingham Forest on the last day of the 2008–09 season, however he was an unused substitute. [3]

He made his debut on 24 April 2010, in a 3–2 victory over Carlisle United, [4] but was released by the club in May 2011 following the club's promotion back to The Championship. [5]

McNish signed for Exeter City on 26 July 2011 after a successful trial which impressed manager Paul Tisdale in Exeter City's pre-season friendlies, scoring two goals. [6] His wages to be paid by the supporters via The 1931 Fund, whose members pay a minimum subscription every month. [7] On 6 August 2011, McNish was named in the substitutes bench in an Exeter City match against League Two promoter Stevenage which was 0–0 but McNish was not used. On 9 August 2011, McNish made his debut for the club in a 2–0 win over Yeovil Town. On 13 August 2011, McNish made his league debut for the club in a 2–0 loss against Milton Keynes Dons where he made his first start before being taken off for Tom Nichols. [8] On 31 March 2012, McNish made a start and played 90 minutes as Exeter drew 1–1 against Colchester United and also received a first yellow card in his professional career. However, McNish struggled to break into the Exeter line-up and failed to make a breakthrough. At the end of season, Exeter City were relegated from League One after three years in English football's third tier.

McNish was released by Exeter City on 15 May 2012 after not being offered a new contract by boss Paul Tisdale. [9] McNish made just seven appearances including two starts for Exeter City. [10] On 4 July, he signed a one-year contract with Braintree Town.

After a spell with Conference North side Oxford City, McNish joined North Leigh in summer 2014. [11]

In 2016, McNish moved to Didcot Town. [12]

Exeter City F.C. is an English football club based in Exeter, Devon. The club was formed in 1901 as St. Sidwell's United and played in the Southern League from 1908 until 1920, when that league's top division was absorbed into The Football League as its new Division Three. The club was the first ever team to play the Brazil national team in 1914, a match which was commemorated in a 2014 friendly game against Fluminense.

The 2016–17 season was Exeter City's 115th year in existence and their fifth consecutive season in League Two. Along with competing in League Two, the club also participated in the FA Cup, EFL Cup and EFL Trophy. Exeter finished the season in 5th place, qualifying for the promotion play-offs. In September, Exeter City broke their all-time record for consecutive home league losses by losing their first five home matches of the season. Exeter City did not record their first league win at their home ground St James Park until mid-December, after 10 attempts. A dramatic upturn in form saw the team rise from the bottom of the league table to a high of 4th. From 31 December 2016 to 4 February 2017, Exeter won all seven of their fixtures, with David Wheeler scoring in each match. With this feat, he equalled and then broke records set by Henry Poulter, Roderick Williams and Alan Beer. Two other records were broken this season because no Exeter City team had ever won seven league games in a row. Exeter City also broke their record for most away wins in the league within one season, after their twelfth away triumph at Mansfield Town on 1 April. This season was first in which City qualified for the promotion play-offs in League Two since their relegation from League One in 2012. Exeter overcame Carlisle United to qualify for the play-off final against Blackpool at Wembley. Blackpool beat Exeter 2–1 in the play-off final to earn promotion to the 2017–18 EFL League One.

The 2022–23 season is the 121st season in the existence of Exeter City Football Club and the club's first season in the League One since the 2011–12 season following their promotion in the previous season. In addition to the league, they also competed in the 2022–23 EFL Cup, being eliminated in the second round by Gillingham, and the 2022–23 EFL Trophy, failing to qualify from the group stage. The team is also competing in the 2022–23 FA Cup, being eliminated in the second round by Oxford United.
