Early life and education

Bernal graduated from Florida International University with a Bachelor of Science in Mass Communication. [2]

Career

She began her career working at Telemundo/CBS Austin, KMID in Odessa, Texas, and WTVJ NBC 6 in South Florida. [2] [3]

In 2018, Bernal joined CNN, working at CNN Newsource in Los Angeles, California and Washington D.C., where she produced English and Spanish language reports and digital content for CNN Newsource's 1,000 local news affiliates. [2]

Bernal left CNN in 2024 and joined NBC News in 2025 as a Los Angeles-based correspondent reporting across all NBC News platforms, which also marked her return to NBCUniversal, having worked at WTVJ and Telemundo in Miami. [3]
