Camilla Jo-Ann Daries is a Namibian actress. She is known for her roles in Baxu and the Giants (2019), Valara (2022) [1] and Measures of Men (2023).

Baxu and the Giants is a short children's film written and directed by Girley Jazama and Florian Schott. It was commissioned by the Legal Assistance Centre as a cautionary tale against rhino poaching, with Daries portraying a young and inquisitive character. [2] It was the first Namibian film to debut on Netflix. [3]

In 2020, Daries accompanied the Legal Assistance Centre (LAC) to hand over 160 postcards written by learners from the Zambezi and Khomas Region, addressed to President Hage Geingob and First Lady Monica Geingos, at Namibia State House. [4]

She attended her primary school at A.I. Steenkamp Primary School.[ citation needed ]

Awards and nominations

In 2019, Daries was nominated in the Namibia Film and Theater Awards in the Female Actor category, for her role in Baxu and the Giants. [5]

At the 5th Namibian Theatre & Film Awards (NFTA) 2019, Daries scooped the Best Female Actor award in film for her performance in Baxu and the Giants. [6]

She was awarded for her work at the 2020 Waka Kids Choice Awards. [7]

The White Line is a 2019 Namibian drama romantic history film directed by Desiree Kahikopo-Meiffret and co-produced by director herself along with Fetteroff Colen, Girley Jazamam, Prudence Kolong and Micheal Pulse. The film stars, Girley Jazama and Jan-Baren Scheepers were in lead roles whereas Sunet Van Wyk, Muhindua Kaura and Mervin Uahupirapi made supportive roles. The film revolves around a love affair between a Black maid and a White Afrikaner Police officer in 1963 after the Old Location uprising.

Florian Schott is a German-born filmmaker based in Namibia since 2009. He began his career in 2002 as a First Assistant Director and has since worked on films in Antarctica, Europe, Africa, and South America.
