The Vanier Cup is the championship of Canadian university football. It is organized by U Sports football and is currently played between the winners of the Uteck Bowl and the Mitchell Bowl. It is named after Georges Vanier, the former Governor General of Canada and was first awarded in 1965 to the winner of an invitational event contested between two teams that were selected by a panel. In 1967, the trophy was declared the official "CIAU National Football Championship" and a playoff system was instituted. From its creation until 1982, it was known as the Canadian College Bowl. The game typically occurs in late November, although it is occasionally played in December.

The 2020 championship tournament was cancelled after two semi-final games had been played due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Windsor Lancers are the varsity athletic teams that represent the University of Windsor in Windsor, Ontario, Canada. The school's varsity program supports 9 different sports. Their mascot is a lancer and the team's colours are blue and gold. The varsity teams compete in the Ontario University Athletics provincial conference and the national U Sports organization. The school joined the Ontario-Quebec Athletic Association in 1952.

The McGill Martlets represented McGill University in the 2008-09 Canadian Interuniversity Sport women's hockey season. The Martlets posted an unblemished 33-0 record against CIS opponents to go undefeated for the second straight season en route to capturing another CIS banner. Catherine Ward, Chantal Gauvin and goaltender Kalie Townsend were the only graduating players from the Martlets.

The McGill Martlets are a women's ice hockey team that represents McGill University, based in Montreal, Quebec. They are members of the Réseau du sport étudiant du Québec (RSEQ), and compete for the Canadian Interuniversity Sport women's ice hockey championship. Some players have participated internationally, including in the World Student Games. Home games are played at McConnell Arena. In addition, the Martlets are connected to the McGill Team, and are subject to the same direction and management of McGill Athletics and Recreation.
The Alberta Pandas women's ice hockey team represents the University of Alberta in the Canada West Universities Athletic Association of the Canadian Interuniversity Sport athletic association. Since joining the CIS in 1997, their only head coach has been Howie Draper. On January 25, 2011, it was announced that the 1999-2000 University of Alberta Pandas hockey team would be inducted into the Alberta Hockey Hall of Fame.
The Calgary Dinos women's ice hockey team represent the University of Calgary in the Canadian Interuniversity Sport (CIS) league. Former Olympic gold medallist Danielle Goyette was named head coach of the team in May 2007, and continues in that role as of January 2017.
