Candice Nagel is a former state legislator in Arizona. A Republican, she lived in Phoenix and represented Maricopa County in 1989 and 1991. [1] She resigned during her second term. [2] She grew up in Avondale. She was described by the Phoenix New Times as a moderate Republican in an article detailing AzScam and her falling afoul of the police investigation after being recorded making disparaging comments about some of her fellow legislators despite not committing the crimes in which fellow legislators were involved. Jane Dee Hull was an American politician and educator who was the 20th governor of Arizona from 1997 to 2003. She ascended to the office following the resignation of Fife Symington; Hull was elected in her own right in 1998 and served one term. She was the first woman formally elected as Governor of Arizona, and the second woman to serve in the office after Rose Mofford. She was a member of the Republican Party.
Diane B. Allen is an American politician and television journalist. A member of the Republican Party, she represented the 7th legislative district in the New Jersey Assembly from 1996 to 1998 and New Jersey Senate from 1998 to 2018. Allen was the senate majority whip from 1998 to 2001, deputy Republican conference leader from 2002 to 2003, and later deputy minority leader. In 2002, she was an unsuccessful candidate for United States Senate, finishing second in the Republican primary.
Norma Jean Paulus was an American lawyer and politician in the state of Oregon. A native of Nebraska, she was raised in Eastern Oregon before becoming a lawyer. A Republican, she first held political office as a representative in the Oregon House of Representatives, and then became the first woman elected to statewide public office in Oregon when she became Oregon Secretary of State in 1977. Paulus later served as Oregon Superintendent of Public Instruction for nine years. She made unsuccessful bids to become Governor of Oregon and United States Senator. Prior to her death on February 28, 2019, Paulus lived in Portland, where she was involved with several non-profit groups and sponsored a ballot measure to create open primaries in Oregon's statewide elections.
Senfronia Calpernia Thompson is a state legislator in Texas. A Democrat, she has been a member of the Texas House of Representatives since 1972 representing the 141st District. She is the former dean of women Legislators in Texas. She has been elected to 25 terms in office. Thompson also advises the United Negro College Fund in Texas.
