Poolesville is a town in the western portion of Montgomery County, Maryland, United States. The population was 5,742 at the 2020 United States Census. It is surrounded by the Montgomery County Agricultural Reserve, and is considered a distant bedroom community for commuters to Washington, D.C.
D.C. United is a professional soccer club based in Washington, D.C. that competes in the Eastern Conference of Major League Soccer, the top tier of American soccer. The stadium is the home of the Washington Commanders of the National Football League (NFL). From 2004 until 2010, it had the largest seating capacity in the NFL at over 91,000. As of 2015, the capacity is 82,000. FedExField is in the Summerfield census-designated place and has a Landover postal address.
Capitol Heights is an island-platformed Washington Metro station in Capitol Heights, Maryland, United States. The station was opened on November 22, 1980, and is operated by the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA). Providing service for the Blue and Silver Lines, the station is located at 133 Central Avenue in a residential area at East Capitol Street and Southern Avenue SE. This is the first station on the two lines in Maryland going east. As of 2017, in terms of weekday average boardings, it is the least used underground station in the system and the 10th least used station overall.

Segway polo is a team sport which started to gain some measure of popularity after being played by members of the Bay Area Segway Enthusiasts Group in 2004. The Bay Area SEG was not the first to play polo on a Segway HT; a team sponsored by Mobile Entertainment played in the Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome at a Minnesota Vikings halftime show in 2003 although the Bay Area SEG members were not aware of this match at the time they first played the sport. Segway polo was developed as it is played today by the members of the Bay Area SEG and other groups and teams that have joined subsequently.

Maryland Route 107 is a state highway in the U.S. state of Maryland. Known for most of its length as Whites Ferry Road, the highway runs 4.79 miles (7.71 km) from MD 109 in Poolesville east to MD 28 in Dawsonville. MD 107 connects the western Montgomery County town of Poolesville with Rockville and Gaithersburg via MD 28. The highway and county-maintained Whites Ferry Road west of Poolesville connect those cities with White's Ferry, a Potomac River ferry north of Leesburg, Virginia. MD 107 was constructed from Dawsonville to Poolesville in the late 1910s. The highway was extended west part of the way to White's Ferry in the late 1920s and early 1930s. MD 107 was truncated at Poolesville in the mid-1970s.
Maryland Route 109 is a state highway in the U.S. state of Maryland. The highway runs 11.87 miles (19.10 km) from MD 107 in Poolesville north to MD 355 in Hyattstown. MD 109 connects the northwestern Montgomery County communities of Poolesville, Beallsville, Barnesville, and Hyattstown with each other and with Interstate 270 (I-270). The highway was built between Beallsville and Barnesville by 1910. MD 109 was extended to Poolesville in the early 1920s and to Comus in the late 1920s. The route was extended north through its early 1950s interchange with I-270 to Hyattstown in the late 1950s.
Seneca is an unincorporated community in Montgomery County, Maryland, United States. It is located near the intersection of River Road and Seneca Creek, not far from the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal and Potomac River. Its history goes back before the American Revolutionary War and it thrived when the canal was operating—having several warehouses, mills, a store, a hotel, and a school. Fighting occurred in the area on more than one occasion during the American Civil War. The community declined as the C&O Canal declined.
The America's Polo Cup was a polo event held annually in the United States of America from 2007 to 2010, but was declared bankrupt on September 13, 2010. The event was organized by Tareq and Michaele Salahi, with varying degrees of support from sponsors. Because the match was unsanctioned by the Federation of International Polo, it was largely considered a spectator event. The event attracted controversy because financial issues surrounding the event, including allegations of, nonpayment of vendors, charity funding issues, and sponsors' names and marks being used without their consent.
