Cara Readle (born 8 January 1991) is a Welsh actress from Swansea, Wales, known mainly for her role as Layla in The Story of Tracy Beaker from series three to five.

Early life and career

Cara Jayne was born in Swansea to an English father and Welsh mother, Karen and raised in Mumbles, [1] and has cerebral palsy. [2] The characters she played in Zig Zag Love [2] and The Story of Tracy Beaker also have this condition. In November 2009, she also had a part in Casualty , playing a patient with cerebral palsy called Serena Wark. [3] The character's sister, Shona Wark, portrayed by Evelyn Hoskins, has reappeared several times as a recurring character, becoming involved in a storyline centring on character Charlie Fairhead (Derek Thompson), but despite this, Serena has never reappeared. [4]

Cara has worked with BBC Ouch! to share life experiences about her disability. From 2011, she has starred in the BBC Wales series Baker Boys as Elen, the daughter of Eve Myles' character Sarah. [5] In 2014, she featured in episode 5 (of 8) of the Sky One drama The Smoke alongside Jodie Whittaker, starring as a receptionist. From 2021 to 2023 she featured in CBeebies show Biff & Chip as Sam. Lisa Jacqueline Coleman is an English actress best known for her television roles as Jude Korcanik in Casualty and Cam Lawson in The Story of Tracy Beaker (2002–2005). Coleman reprised the role in Tracy Beaker Returns (2010–2012) and again in 2021 for My Mum Tracy Beaker and The Beaker Girls.

Helen Raynor is a Welsh television screenwriter and script editor from Swansea. She is best known for her work on the relaunched BBC science fiction series Doctor Who. She previously worked as a theatre director. Besides television episodes, Raynor has written theatrical plays, radio plays, and short stories.

<i>My Mum Tracy Beaker</i> British television series

My Mum Tracy Beaker is a British children's television miniseries that premiered on CBBC and BBC iPlayer on 12 February 2021. The show was aired the week after The Dumping Ground's eighth series concluded. The series follows on from the events of its predecessors, The Story of Tracy Beaker, Tracy Beaker Returns and The Dumping Ground. My Mum Tracy Beaker saw Dani Harmer reprise her role as Tracy Beaker and included original cast members Lisa Coleman, Ruth Gemmell and Montanna Thompson, as well as new cast members Emma Maggie Davies and Jordan Duvigneau.

Nisha K Nayar is a British actress. After coming to prominence in the 1993 film Bhaji on the Beach, she had starring roles as Debra Kumar in the film Out of Hours in 1998 and as Elaine "the Pain" Boyak in the CBBC children's series, The Story of Tracy Beaker from 2002 to 2005.
