Carl Clapp (born November 2, 1958) is an American retired college sports administrator who was most recently the associate athletics director for administrative services at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. Prior to working at Hawaii, Clapp was the athletic director at Saint Mary's College of California. [1] Before that, he was previously the athletic director at the University of Redlands and Avila University. [2] He also served as the interim athletics director at Hawaii in 2008 following the termination of Herman Frazier. [3] His first task as interim AD was to find a new football coach after June Jones left to accept the head coaching position at SMU and was part of the selection committee that hired Greg McMackin. [4] Clapp also played a crucial role in securing a partnership between Hawaii and sports apparel brand Under Armour. [5]

Clapp was rumored to be a candidate for the open athletics director at his alma mater UC Santa Barbara after the retirement of Gary Cunningham. [6] He applied for the open athletic director position at the University of Montana in 2012 and was one of four finalists, but the job ultimately went to Kent Haslam. [7] [8]

June Sheldon Jones III is an American football coach and former player who was most recently the offensive coordinator of the Seattle Sea Dragons. Jones was the head football coach at the University of Hawaii at Manoa from 1999 to 2007 and was the head football coach at Southern Methodist University (SMU) from 2008 to 2014, before resigning on September 8, 2014. Previously, he coached in the National Football League (NFL): a three-year tenure as head coach of the Atlanta Falcons from 1994 to 1996 and a ten-game stint as interim head coach of the San Diego Chargers in 1998; he also spent 1+12 seasons as head coach of the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in the Canadian Football League (CFL). Jones was also formerly the General Manager and Head Coach of the Houston Roughnecks.

Herman Ronald "Herm" Frazier is a retired American sprinter. He won gold medals in the 4 × 400 m relay at the 1976 Olympics and 1975 and 1979 Pan American Games. Individually he earned a bronze medal in the 400 m event at the 1976 Olympics. He served as chef de mission of the 2004 U.S. Olympic team and as the Athletic Director at the University of Alabama at Birmingham and the University of Hawaii. The UH athletics program is a member of the Big West Conference in most sports and competes at the NCAA Division I level. It comprises seven men's, 12 women's, and two coed athletic teams.

David Alexander Kalakaua Matlin is an American former college sports administrator. Matlin was the director of athletics for the University of Hawaii at Manoa from 2015 until his retirement in 2023. Prior to his appointment as athletic director at Hawaii, he previously served as Executive Director of the Hawaii Bowl from 2008 to 2015. The 2021 Hawaii Rainbow Warriors volleyball team represented the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa (UH) in the 2021 NCAA Division I & II men's volleyball season. The Rainbow Warriors, led by 12th-year head coach Charlie Wade, played home games at Stan Sheriff Center on the UH campus in the Honolulu neighborhood of Mānoa. The Rainbow Warriors, members of the Big West Conference, were picked by Big West coaches to win the conference in its preseason poll. After a late start was announced, Hawaii went undefeated in conference play. The Rainbow Warriors suffered their first and only setback in the semifinals of the Big West Tournament, forcing them to receive an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament. Despite the setback, Hawai'i received the #1 seed in the national tournament and went on to win the National Championship with straight set wins over UC Santa Barbara in the semifinals and BYU in the national championship. The national championship is Hawai'i's first men's volleyball national championship after they had to vacate the 2002 national championship.

The 2021–22 Hawaii Rainbow Warriors basketball team represented the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa during the 2021–22 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Rainbow Warriors were led by seventh-year head coach Eran Ganot and played their games at the SimpliFi Arena at the Stan Sheriff Center as a member of the Big West Conference.

The Rainbow Warriors enter the season the defending national champions after defeating BYU in the 2021 national championship. The national championship was Hawai'i's first men's volleyball national championship after they had to vacate the 2002 national championship.
