Carla E. Brodley is a computer scientist specializing in machine learning. Brodley is a Fellow of the ACM, the Association for the Advancement of Artificial Intelligence (AAAI), and the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS). She is the Dean of Inclusive Computing at Northeastern University, [1] where she serves as the Executive Director for the Center for Inclusive Computing and holds a tenured appointment in Khoury College of Computer Sciences. Brodley served as dean of Khoury College from 2014-2021. She is a proponent for greater enrollment of women and under-represented minorities in computer science. [2] [3]
Brodley is a 1985 graduate of McGill University. [4] At McGill, she initially chose to major in English, quickly switching to economics, [4] but switched again to a double major in mathematics and computer science after taking and enjoying a computer programming course as a sophomore. [2] After working as a consultant and computer programmer in Boston, she returned to graduate school, initially planning only to work for a master's degree in artificial intelligence, but continuing there for a Ph.D. [4] under the supervision of Paul Utgoff. [2]
After finishing her doctorate in 1994, she joined the electrical engineering faculty of Purdue University School of Electrical and Computer Engineering. She moved from Purdue to Tufts University in 2004, and became chair of the department of computer science at Tufts from 2010 to 2013, [5] [4] also holding an affiliation with the Clinical and Translational Science Institute at Tufts Medical Center. [4] She moved again from Tufts to Northeastern in 2014. [1]
Brodley was named a Fellow of the Association for Computing Machinery in 2016 "for applications of machine learning and for increasing participation of women in computer science". [6] [7] Brodley is also a fellow of the Association for the Advancement of Artificial Intelligence (AAAI), and the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS). [1]

Manuela Maria Veloso is the Head of J.P. Morgan AI Research & Herbert A. Simon University Professor Emeritus in the School of Computer Science at Carnegie Mellon University, where she was previously Head of the Machine Learning Department. She served as president of Association for the Advancement of Artificial Intelligence (AAAI) until 2014, and the co-founder and a Past President of the RoboCup Federation. She is an international expert in artificial intelligence and robotics.
Dana S. Nau is a Professor of Computer Science and Systems Research at the University of Maryland Department of Computer Science in College Park, where he has done research in automated planning and scheduling, game theory, cognitive science, and computer-aided engineering. He has many PHD students, including Qiang Yang who graduated in 1989. He has more than 300 publications and several best-paper awards. Some of his accomplishments include the discovery of game tree pathology, the development of the SHOP and SHOP2 HTN planning systems, and the book Automated Planning: Theory and Practice (ISBN 1-55860-856-7). He is a Fellow of the AAAI and in 2022 he was elected as a Fellow of the AAAS.
The Khoury College of Computer Sciences is the computer science school of Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts. She also works in data integration, social network analysis and visual analytics. She has edited a book on Statistical relational learning that is a main reference in this domain. She has published many highly cited papers in academic journals and conference proceedings. She has also served as action editor for the Machine Learning Journal, JAIR associate editor, and TKDD associate editor.
Nancy Marie Amato is an American computer scientist noted for her research on the algorithmic foundations of motion planning, computational biology, computational geometry and parallel computing. Amato is the Abel Bliss Professor of Engineering and Head of the Department of Computer Science at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Amato is noted for her leadership in broadening participation in computing, and is currently a member of the steering committee of CRA-WP, of which she has been a member of the board since 2000.
Barbara J. Grosz CorrFRSE is an American computer scientist and Higgins Professor of Natural Sciences at Harvard University. She has made seminal contributions to the fields of natural language processing and multi-agent systems. With Alison Simmons, she is co-founder of the Embedded EthiCS programme at Harvard, which embeds ethics lessons into computer science courses.
