Carlos Mugabo

Carlos Monroe [1] (born on May 5, 1987 [2] in Philadelphia, United States, but listed by Rwanda as born Carlos Mugabo on August 12, 1986 in Nyarugenge) is an American basketball player who was part of the Rwanda national basketball team at the 2009 FIBA Africa Championship. [3] He played for the Florida Atlantic Owls men's basketball from 2005 to 2009. [4]

Mugabo was a late addition to the Rwandan team for the 2009 FIBA Africa Championship after two Rwandan players pulled out of the tournament three weeks before the scheduled opener. [5] Nevertheless, he averaged 10.6 PPG, 5.8 RPG, and 2.0 SPG to help lead the Rwandans to a 9th-place finish and their best performance to date at the African Championships. [6]

2014 FIBA Under-17 World Championship

The 2014 FIBA Under-17 World Championship(Arabic: بطولة العالم لكرة السلة 2014 تحت 17 سنة ) was an international basketball competition held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, from 8–16 August 2014. It was the third edition of the FIBA Under-17 World Cup. Sixteen national teams competed in the tournament as opposed to last edition of the tournament, where twelve national teams competed. The preliminary round action takes place in Al-Ahli Arena and Al-Wasl Arena, with the Hamdan Sports Complex hosting the final round. This was the first time the FIBA Under-17 World Cup was held outside Europe.

2021 BAL season

The 2021 BAL season is the inaugural season of the Basketball Africa League (BAL). The league is a joint effort between the National Basketball Association (NBA) and FIBA. Starting from this season, it is the highest tier continental league of Africa, replacing the FIBA AfroLeague. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic the tournament was rescheduled from 2020 to 2021 and is to be held completely in Kigali, Rwanda.
