Carlos Torres-Machado is an Ecuadorian visual artist. He is the current President of ArteLatAm, an arts organization dedicated to the support of Latin American visual artists. It has its headquarters in Queens, New York. [1]
Torres-Machado was born in Ecuador. Since a very young age, he expressed his love towards art and other disciplines of interest. In 2012, Torres-Machado moved to New York City to further develop his career as an artist. He lives together with his wife and kid in New York City.
Carlos Torres-Machado graduated with a B.F.A. in Contemporary Arts, Communication, Photography, and Psychology from the Universidad Nacional de las Artes, and Universidad San Francisco de Quito. Ever since he moved to New York, he has held exhibitions in Europe, Latin America, and major international biennials. [2] [3] [4] In 2017, he was awarded as the New York Regional winner of the Bombay Sapphire Artisan Series. [5] [6] Torres-Machado has experience as a photographer. [7] His abstract artworks are mostly characterized by their variety of color and the use of geometrical language. [8]
After succeeding in the Latin American art market of New York, Torres-Machado decided that it was highly important to share some of his success, and founded ArteLatAm. ArteLatAm is an arts organization that works towards increasing the visibility and recognition of Latin American visual artists worldwide by giving them the tools and skills necessary to thrive. Lina Dorado is a contemporary artist and filmmaker based in New York City noted for her multimedia work and travel photography, Lina Dorado has authored two books in bilingual editions: Doble Vista / Second Sight and Drawing Only, Solo Dibujo alongside her long-term collaborator: Luis Cantillo. Their book Doble Vista / Second Sight written by Dorado and photographs by both was acquired by the New York Public Library Museum of Modern Art in New York MOMA and the Whitney Museum for their Artists' Books Collection. In August 2018 her first feature film Pelucas y Rokanrol was theatrically released in Colombia, the film was directed by Mario Duarte and written by Mario Duarte and Lina Dorado.
Rocio Caballero is a Mexican figurative painter, whose works often depict mythical worlds and are noted for her use of symbolism. Her work has been exhibited individually and collectively in Mexico, the United States, South America and Europe and can be found in collections such as that of the National Museum of Mexican Art. Her work has been recognized with membership in the Salón de la Plástica Mexicana.
Sandra Monterroso is a Guatemalan visual artist and designer. Art historian Virginia Pérez-Ratton writes about Monterroso's beginnings as a performance artist in Guatemala during 1999 and 2000. Alongside her were other Guatemalan female performers like Regina José Galindo, Maria Adela Díaz, and Jessica Lagunas. Recently Monterroso's work focuses not only in performance art, she works with different media as videoart, installations and mix media. Her work is related to power structures, gender issues and decolonial thinking. Her work is included in the Artist Pension Trust.

Karen Lamassonne is a Colombian American artist. Throughout her career Lamassonne has explored a plethora of disciplines such as film, printmaking, painting, graphic design, video art, and music. Lamassonne’s work is notable for reflecting this combination of several different studies, most noticeably that of her paintings having a very cinematic vision behind them. Noteworthy works of Lamassonne’s all contain this sense of multifaceted technical skills put into them. A majority of Lamassonne's work contains motifs of sensuality from a woman's perspective, specifically she includes sexuality from her own perspectives and experiences. Moreover, her signature combination of feminine-led sexuality and a frank expression of true life have led to both Lamassonne and her work being the subject of criticism via censorship.

Alicia Barney is a Colombian artist based in Cali who focuses her paintings and installation art on ecological questions and problems such as water pollution, deforestation and quality of life. She specializes in on-hand interactions with her surroundings and what the natural environment has to offer in order to educate the public about her environmental concerns. Barney's artwork reveals the evolution of her view of ecological aspects through landscape themes that hold traditional and representational vocabulary and express ecology in a creative and interesting way.
Margot Römer was a Venezuelan artist, who was a leader of radical experimental art, a teacher and a professional pilot. Her artwork reflected topics involving domesticity and sensuality of the human body. She emphasized topics of the female body by using objects to create irony. Römer had diverse knowledge in many mediums including silkscreen, pencil, oil painting, and sometimes assemblages or collages involving found objects.

Tlacuilas y Retrateras was one of the first feminist art collectives in Mexico, it was founded in May 1983 by Ruth Albores, Consuelo Almeda, Karen Cordero, Ana Victoria Jiménez, Lorena Loaiza, Nicola Coleby, Marcela Ramírez, Isabel Restrepo, Patricia Torres and Elizabeth Valenzuela based on a feminist art workshop taught by Mónica Mayer at the Academia de San Carlos, National School of Plastic Arts (UNAM).
