The Carman Subdivision is a railroad line owned by CSX Transportation in the U.S. state of New York. The line is located in and near Schenectady [1] along a former New York Central Railroad line. It connects the Hudson Subdivision in Schenectady with the Selkirk Subdivision at Rotterdam. [2] [3]
The Carman Subdivision opened in 1902 as part of a bypass around Schenectady for the New York Central Railroad.[ citation needed ] It became part of Conrail through mergers and takeovers, and was assigned to CSX in the 1999 breakup of Conrail.
The Niagara Subdivision is a railroad line owned and operated by CSX Transportation in the U.S. state of New York. The line runs from Buffalo north and west to Niagara Falls along former New York Central Railroad and Lehigh Valley Railroad lines. Its south end is at the Buffalo Terminal Subdivision; its north end is just east of the Canada–US border at Whirlpool Bridge, at the CSX Transportation Niagara Falls Yard. It intersects the West Shore Subdivision, which provides a southern bypass of Rochester, at Fairport (CP-359) and Churchville (CP-382). At its west end in Churchville the line becomes the Buffalo Terminal Subdivision.
