Diplomatic career

Carmela Shamir was Israel's ambassador to Uzbekistan from 2013 until 2017. [3] Her deputy ambassador, Hagit Mualem, was also a woman. [4]

Before serving as ambassador she was deputy director of the North American department [5] at Israel's Ministry of Foreign Affairs. [6]

Uzbekistan joined the Commonwealth of Independent States in December 1991. However, it is opposed to reintegration and withdrew from the CIS collective security arrangement in 1999. Since that time, Uzbekistan has participated in the CIS peacekeeping force in Tajikistan and in United Nations-organized groups to help resolve the Tajik and Afghan conflicts, both of which it sees as posing threats to its own stability. Uzbekistan is an active supporter of U.S. efforts against worldwide terrorism and joined the coalitions which have dealt with both Afghanistan and Iraq. It is a member of the United Nations, the Euro-Atlantic Partnership Council, Partnership for Peace, and the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE). It belongs to the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and the Economic Cooperation Organization, which comprises 7 Central Asian countries: Pakistan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Afghanistan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan. It is a founding member of and remains involved in the Central Asian Union, formed with Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan, joined in March 1998 by Tajikistan.

Mark Regev Israeli diplomat and civil servant

Mark Regev is an Israeli diplomat and civil servant who is currently a visiting fellow at the Institute for National Security Studies. In September 2021, Regev started a weekly column in the Jerusalem Post. In June 2020, he became the Prime Minister's Senior Advisor for Foreign Affairs and International Communications in the Israeli Prime Minister's Office. He previously was the International Spokesperson for the Prime Minister's Office from 2007 to 2015. Regev was also Ambassador of Israel to the United Kingdom from 2016 to 2020.

Irina Georgieva Bokova is a Bulgarian politician and the former Director-General of UNESCO (2009–2017). During her political and diplomatic career in Bulgaria, she served, among others, two terms as a member of the National parliament, and deputy minister of foreign affairs and minister of foreign affairs ad interim under Prime Minister Zhan Videnov. She also served as Bulgaria's ambassador to France and to Monaco, and was Bulgaria's Permanent Delegate to UNESCO. Bokova was also the personal representative of Bulgaria's President to the Organisation internationale de la Francophonie (2005–2009).

Kang Kyung-wha

Kang Kyung-wha is a South Korean diplomat and politician who served as the first Foreign Minister of South Korea under President Moon Jae-in from 2017 to 2021 as well as the first woman nominated for and appointed to the position. She is also the first Korean woman to hold a high-level position in the United Nations. Previously, Kang was the first non-exam-taker to become a director-general in the ministry. She is the first South Korean foreign minister to join the official South Korean delegation for the inter-Korean summit as well as to visit Pyongyang, the North Korean capital.

Miriam Ziv was the first female ambassador of Israel to Canada, from 2003 until 2008. Other firsts in her career include being the first deputy director general (Africa) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Later, she served as Deputy Director General for Strategic Affairs at the Ministry.

Imelda Panolong Filipina career diplomat

Imelda Macapundag Panolong is a Filipina career diplomat who is the current Ambassador of the Philippines to Oman. She is the first Muslim woman in the Philippine diplomatic corps to be promoted to the rank of Career Minister and later, Chief of Mission, Class II and also the first female Muslim ambassador of the Philippines. Before becoming ambassador, she served as the consul general of the Philippine Consulate in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia and has completed tours of duty in Pakistan, Bahrain, Canada, Indonesia and the United States.
