Carrows was a subsidiary of Shari's Cafe & Pies and casual dining restaurant that served breakfast and lunch/dinner in California, United States.

History

Carrows was started by David G. Nancarrow in Santa Clara, California, in 1970 as the Carrows Hickory Chip Restaurant. [1] Carrows and its sister chain Coco's Bakery Restaurants were purchased by Advantica Restaurant Group in 1996, which would file for bankruptcy the following year. [2] In 2002 they were acquired by Catalina Restaurant Group, Inc. [3]

In California, Carrows/Coco's Bakery competes directly with Marie Callender's and Bakers Square restaurants.

In 2006, Catalina Restaurant Group was bought by Japanese company Zensho Co., Ltd., which has operated Coco's Japan for many years. [4]

In 2015, Food Management Partners acquired Catalina Restaurant Group Inc., (parent of Coco's and Carrows).[ citation needed ]

In September 2018, it was announced that Shari's Cafe & Pies had taken over Carrows and Coco's. [5] [6]

On June 28, 2023, Carrows has shuttered its restaurant in Cerritos due to the company's retirement.[ citation needed ]

Boston Market Corporation, known as Boston Chicken until 1995, is an American fast casual restaurant chain headquartered in Newtown Township, Pennsylvania. Since 2020, it has been owned by Engage Brands, LLC, a company of Rohan Group. Also, frozen meals and side dishes are sold nationally under the Boston Market brand name in food markets. The chain was known for rotisserie chickens, and later branched out into other meats such as turkey, meatloaf, and ham. A common meal had a meat with a few sides such as potatoes, cream spinach, mac n' cheese, and accompanied by a corn bread. Stores sometimes had seasonal specials and they also had a line of sandwiches. As of November 2019, CraftWorks owned and operated over 390 restaurants in the United States, but all of its owned-and-operated locations closed by March 2020, after a Chapter 11 bankruptcy followed immediately by the COVID-19 pandemic in the United States, and CraftWorks terminated its 18,000 employees, leaving fewer than 25 employed.
