Porter Ridge High School is a public high school in Indian Trail, North Carolina. Opened in 2005, it is the largest high school in the Union County Public Schools School System. Located in the northwestern portion of Union County, it has experienced considerable growth in the last two decades. The school serves half of Indian Trail and all of Hemby Bridge and Stallings. The school is next to the campuses of Porter Ridge Middle School and Porter Ridge Elementary School. The school's mascot is a pirate, and the school colors are purple, black, and silver. He was previously head coach of the Portland Timbers from 2013 until 2017. He won MLS Cup in 2015 with Portland and 2020 with Columbus. In addition to MLS, he coached the United States U-23 team in 2011–12, and the University of Akron men's team from 2006 to 2012, winning the NCAA title in 2010.

Dave Giffard is an American soccer coach. Giffard was raised in Illinois, where he attended MacMurray College from 1993 to 1997, and played for the school's soccer team as a goalkeeper. After finishing college at MacMurray, with a Bachelor's degree in physical education, Giffard immediately went into the sport as a coach, coaching at various institutions as an assistant coach or goalkeeping coach for the next 15 years. Following his tenure as an assistant at MacMurray, Giffard was an assistant on the Westminster College Blue Jays, where they achieved their first 12-win season in program history. During his final years at Westminster, Giffard enrolled for postgraduate studies at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB).
