The Castleford, Normanton and District Hospital was a health facility in Lumley Street, Castleford, West Yorkshire, England. It was managed by South West Yorkshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust.
The facility was commissioned in 1924: it was available to patients from 1926 but not officially opened by Princess Mary until 23 August 1929. [1] During the 1930s a significant amount of its funding came from Henry Briggs, Son and Co., a local coal mining business. [2] It joined the National Health Service in 1948. [3] A new 120-bed mental health unit opened in the 1970s. [4]
After services transferred to Pontefract Hospital, the hospital closed in 2017. [5] The buildings were demolished in summer 2018 and the site was subsequently developed by Persimmon for residential use. [6]

It is north-east of Wakefield and south-west of Castleford, and at the time of the 2011 Census, the population of the civil parish was 20,872, whilst the Normanton ward of the Wakefield City Council had a population of 16,220.
The Hallam Line is a railway connecting Leeds and Sheffield via Castleford in the West Yorkshire Metro area of northern England. It is a slower route from Leeds to Sheffield than the Wakefield line. Services on this line are operated by Northern. Services from Leeds to Nottingham also use the line.

Monk Fryston railway station was a railway station serving the village of Monk Fryston in North Yorkshire, England. Previously, Milford Junction and Old Junction served as an interchange between the Leeds and Selby and the York and North Midland Lines, however when they closed in the early 1900s, Monk Fryston was opened to cover for this loss of interchange. Though the station had four tracks through it, it only ever had two platforms. The station closed to passengers in 1959, and then completely in 1964.
