Catalina Video is a production house of gay pornography, founded in 1978 by William Higgins. [1] The company was primarily a distributor for Nova Studios in 1982. In 1987, Scott Masters was hired as its head of production, and he began making films for the studio. The company's fortunes improved, and they opened a second studio in San Francisco.
Gay pornography is the representation of sexual activity between males. Its primary goal is sexual arousal in its audience. William Higgins, also "Wim Hof" is an American director of gay pornographic films who has based his businesses in the Czech Republic since 1996. He started his career as porn director and producer in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, when sellers of pornographic movies — he mentioned Falcon — refused for legal reasons to mail them to customers in many southeastern states. addition, he said in an interview, gay porn movies were "so bad" that he decided to begin making them himself. A bust in 1978 — charges were dropped — and a raid "during the Carter administration" led him to go on a "world tour" looking for a better legal environment. After rejecting Australia and Thailand, he settled in Amsterdam, where his distributor was, and later relocated to Prague, a less expensive city. Although the legal climate in the U.S. has changed, he has no interest in returning.
Nova Studios was a gay pornographic film studio established by Scott Masters in 1977. It closed in 1986.

In 2007, Channel 1 Releasing acquired Catalina Video and began remastering, re-packaging and re-releasing several of its titles for the first time on DVD. Channel 1 Releasing is co-owned by director Chi Chi LaRue, who got his start in the business directing for Catalina in the 1980s.
Larry David Paciotti is an American gay pornographic film director. He appears as the drag-diva persona Chi Chi LaRue, which is also the directorial credit name of Lawrence David and Taylor Hudson, who directs bisexual, gay, and heterosexual porn films.
