The Fédération Internationale de Roller Sports was the world governing body for roller sports, including skateboarding, rink hockey, inline hockey, inline speed skating, inline alpine, downhill, roller derby, roller freestyle, inline freestyle, aggressive inline skating, inline figure skating and artistic roller skating. It was established in April 1924 in Montreux, Switzerland by two Swiss sportsmen, Fred Renkewitz and Otto Myer, who had close connections to the International Olympic Committee.
The Case Fresno is the name assigned by the Catalonia media and public opinion to the Federation of International Roller Sports (FIRS) assembly held at Fresno, California, on 26 November 2004. It meant that for the first time in history, an international sport team that had been accepted provisionally was later not accepted definitely. At the same time, it was the first time that a regional sport team (Catalonia) had been registered with the opposition of the state the region belonged to (Spain). However, the Federació Catalana de Patinatge brought the case to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (TAS) at Lausanne, which admitted irregularities in the assembly, invalidated the vote, and forced the FIRS to repeat the vote following the FIRS statute rules. An extraordinary FIRS assembly was held in Rome on November 24, 2005, and again rejected the membership application of the Catalan federation (125–43).

The Catalonia men's national roller hockey team is the national team of Catalonia in international roller hockey. Nowadays it's not officially recognized by International Roller Sports Federation (FIRS).
Atlètic Terrassa Hockey Club, also known as Atlètic Terrassa, is a professional field hockey club based in Terrassa, Catalonia, Spain. The club was founded in 1952. Their senior men's field hockey team play in the División de Honor and the Copa del Rey. They have also regularly represented Spain in the Euro Hockey League. Their senior women's field hockey team play in the División de Honor and in the Copa de la Reina. In addition to field hockey, the club also organises teams in various other sports and activities including tennis, padel, basketball, futsal, swimming, gymnastics and golf.
