Roller Hockey was introduced as a World Games sport for men at the 1981 World Games in Santa Clara. In 2005 it was replaced by Inline hockey.

Roller hockey is a form of hockey played on a dry surface using wheeled skates. The term "Roller hockey" is often used interchangeably to refer to three variant forms chiefly differentiated by the equipment used: traditional "Roller hockey", played with quad skates and a ball, "Inline hockey", played with inline skates and puck and "Skater hockey", played with quad skates or inline skates and plastic ball. The organisation is the result of the merger of the Fédération Internationale de Roller Sports (FIRS) and the International Skateboarding Federation (ISF) in September 2017 after the ISF's involvement with the scheduled skateboarding events at the Japan 2020 Olympics were rejected.

The 2019 Men's Roller Hockey World Cup was the 44th edition of the Roller Hockey World Cup, organised by World Skate. The tournament was held in Spain, in the city of Barcelona, as part of the 2019 World Roller Games.
