In 2017, Laura Buethner of Germany originally won gold in women's singles. In a competition doping test after the medal ceremony, Buethner tested positive for a banned substance. As a result of the positive doping test, Buethner was stripped of the gold medal. Kelly Kulick, who originally won silver, was awarded the gold medal. Clara Guerrero, who originally won bronze, was awarded the silver medal and Daria Kovalova, originally fourth in the final standings, was awarded the bronze medal. [1]

The Commonwealth Tenpin Bowling Championships is an event open to all national World Bowling member federations, which participate in tenpin bowling and are countries within the Commonwealth or all national tenpin bowling federations and/or associations (Non-WB) who are within the Commonwealth and participate in tenpin bowling. The Bowling competition at the World Games 2017 took place from July 21 to July 24, in Wrocław in Poland, at the Sky Tower.

The Women's Single event of the Bowling at the 2017 World Games will be held on 21 July 2017.

The 2018 Asian Games, officially known as the XVIII Asiad, is the largest sporting event in Asia governed by Olympic Council of Asia (OCA). It was held at Jakarta and Palembang, Indonesia between 18 August – 2 September 2018, with 465 events in 40 sports and disciplines featured in the Games. This resulted in 465 medal sets being distributed.

Shannon Pluhowsky is an American left-handed ten-pin bowler who competes in the Professional Women's Bowling Association (PWBA) and internationally. Pluhowsky is a 21-time and current member of Team USA (2001–present), and a former four-time member of Junior Team USA (2000–2003). Pluhowsky has six professional championships, including major wins at the 2006 USBC Queens in Reno, Nevada, the 2014 BPAA Women's All-Star in Rockford, Illinois, and the 2021 PWBA Tour Championship in Reno, Nevada.

Olga Te is a Russian weightlifter. She won the gold medal in the women's 59 kg event at the 2021 European Weightlifting Championships held in Moscow, Russia. At the time, she won the silver medal but in October 2021, this became the gold medal as original gold medalist Boyanka Kostova of Azerbaijan was banned for testing positive for traces of stanozolol. She also won the bronze medal in the women's 59 kg event at the 2021 World Weightlifting Championships held in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.
