Catherine Swing is a Canadian television personality, actor, producer, director and former Miss Canada.

Swing won the Miss Canada pageant in 1978, [1] [2] after having won the Miss Toronto crown while she was a student at York University. [3] Over the next year she made public appearances in different parts of the country. [4] She talked with the challenges of being Miss Canada with the press, most notably the lack of control over her own schedule. [5] Swing was not able to compete in the 1978 Miss Universe pageant as had what the papers called "marriage plans". [6]

In 1980, she created Just Like Mom , a television game show which ran on CTV until 1985; from the second season onwards she co-hosted the show with her then-husband Fergie Olver. [7] In 2009 a new version of the show was announced and Swing served as a consultant. [8] [9] After Just Like Mom concluded, Swing continued to work in television as an actor and director.[ citation needed ]

Just Like Mom is a Canadian television game show which ran from 1980 to 1985 on CTV. A total of 595 episodes were taped at CFTO-TV Studios in the Toronto suburb of Scarborough, Ontario. It was hosted by Stephen Young during the show's first season, but from the second season on, it was hosted by the husband-and-wife duo of Fergie Olver and the show's creator Catherine Swing. Olver announced the series during its first season. The format was to determine which child and mother knew each other the best through answer-matching as well as the memorable Bake-off Challenge. Three teams, consisting of a young child and his or her mother, competed on each episode. Repeats aired on the launch schedule for YTV in 1988, and on GameTV from 2008 to 2010.
