Trần Văn Thủy is a Vietnamese documentary film director, reporter, and writer. He has directed more than twenty documentary films on a wide variety of themes. His work has often been a center of controversy in Vietnam; his 1982 film Hanoi In Whose Eyes, and his 1985 film The Story of Kindness, were both banned for a number of years by the Vietnamese government because each had content that was implicitly critical of the regime. Nonetheless, due in large measure to the success of his work at international film festivals, Thủy was able to continue working for the Government Cinema department as a creator of significant films, including A Story From the Corner of the Park (1996), and The Sound of a Violin at Mỹ Lai (1999).

On 27 January 2016, the 12th National Congress elected 180 individuals to serve as members of the 12th Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) for the electoral term 2016–2021. The Central Committee is the highest decision-making institution in the CPV and Vietnam when the Party's National Congress and the Politburo are adjourned. In between congresses, the Central Committee is responsible for organising and directing the implementation of the Party's Political Platform, Charter, and resolutions adopted at the National Congress. Furthermore, it adopts guidelines and policies in all relevant fields, domestic or foreign. In addition, the sitting Central Committee is responsible for convening the next National Congress. Members of the Central Committee have the right to elect and remove the General Secretary of the Central Committee as well as members of the Politburo, the Secretariat and the Central Inspection Commission (CIC). When the Central Committee is not in session, it delegates its powers to these three elected organs which then report on their activities the next time the Central Committee convenes for a meeting. Central Committee members are responsible to and report on their work to the Central Committee.

Joseph Nguyễn Năng is a Vietnamese prelate of the Catholic Church who has been a bishop since 2009 and the Metropolitan Archbishop of the Metropolitan Archdiocese of Hồ Chí Minh City since October 2019. He was elected president of the Catholic Bishops' Conference of Vietnam in October 2022.

Joseph Bùi Công Trác is a Vietnamese prelate. He was ordained a priest in 1999 and was appointed Rector of Saint Joseph Major Seminary of Sài Gòn by Archbishop Paul Bùi Văn Đọc in 2016 and remains so as of 2024. On 1 November 2022, Pope Francis appointed Trác as auxiliary bishop of the Archdiocese of Hồ Chí Minh City.
Dominic Đặng Văn Cầu is a Vietnamese prelate. He was appointed Bishop of Thái Bình on 29 of October 2022. Cầu was set to be appointed bishop with Joseph Bùi Công Trác on the same day, but Trác was appointed later on 1 November due to Archbishop Joseph Nguyễn Năng being on a retreat. He was ordained to the priesthood in 1996 and previously served as Rector of the Sacred Heart Major Seminary of Thái Bình since 2017. He was ordained bishop on 31 December 2022 in front of the Diocesan Pastoral Center and consecrated by Archbishop Joseph Nguyễn Năng. His co-consecrators were Joseph Nguyễn Tấn Tước, Bishop of Phú Cường and Joseph Trần Văn Toản, Bishop of Long Xuyên.

Joseph Ðặng Ðức Ngân is a Vietnamese prelate since 2007. He was ordained in 1987 for the Archdiocese of Hà Nội by Cardinal Joseph-Marie Trịnh Văn Căn. After learning in Rome at the Pontifical Urban University, he became the secretary to both Cardinals Joseph-Marie Trịnh Văn Căn and later Paul Joseph Phạm Đình Tụng. He was appointed vicar general of the archdiocese by Archbishop Joseph Ngô Quang Kiệt in 2005. On 12 October 2007, Pope Benedict XVI appointed him Bishop of Lạng Sơn and Cao Bằng and was consecrated bishop by Joseph Ngô Quang Kiệt on 3 December of that same year at Saint Dominic Cathedral in Lạng Sơn. On 12 March 2016, he was appointed Bishop of Đà Nẵng with Bishop Joseph Châu Ngọc Tri becoming Bishop of Lạng Sơn and Cao Bằng. This is the first time this has happened in the history of the Church in Việt Nam. On 21 September 2023, he was appointed Coadjutor Archbishop of Huế having the right to succeed Archbishop Joseph Nguyễn Chí Linh and to aid Linh in his ministry.
