The National Library of Wales, Aberystwyth, is the national legal deposit library of Wales and is one of the Welsh Government sponsored bodies. It is the biggest library in Wales, holding over 6.5 million books and periodicals, and the largest collections of archives, portraits, maps and photographic images in Wales. The Library is also home to the national collection of Welsh manuscripts, the National Screen and Sound Archive of Wales, and the most comprehensive collection of paintings and topographical prints in Wales. As the primary research library and archive in Wales and one of the largest research libraries in the United Kingdom, the National Library is a member of Research Libraries UK (RLUK) and the Consortium of European Research Libraries (CERL).
The Honourable Society of Cymmrodorion, often called simply the Cymmrodorion, is a London-based Welsh learned society, with membership open to all. It was first established in 1751 as a social, cultural, literary and philanthropic institution. It fell into abeyance between 1787 and 1820, and again between 1843 and 1873. In its second and third incarnations its interests have been predominantly cultural and antiquarian. The present society claims continuity from that founded in 1751, although the three successive societies have in fact been slightly different in character and aims.
The story of Mary Jones and her Bible inspired the founding of the British and Foreign Bible Society. Mary Jones was a Welsh girl who, at the age of fifteen, walked twenty-six miles barefoot across the countryside to buy a copy of the Welsh Bible from Thomas Charles because she did not have one. Thomas Charles then used her story in proposing to the Religious Tract Society that it set up a new organisation to supply Wales with Bibles.

Y Fflam was a Welsh-language literary journal published between 1946 and 1952 providing a platform for young Welsh writers. It included poetry, artworks, short fiction, and reviews. Its political viewpoint was strongly radical nationalism.
Y Ford Gron: papur Cymry'r byd was a popular monthly Welsh-language magazine containing news and articles on travel, fashion, the arts, and current events. It was illustrated, and included letters, editorials, and advertisements. It was published from 1930 to 1935.
Archaeologia Cambrensis is a Welsh archaeological and historical scholarly journal published annually by the Cambrian Archaeological Association. It contains historical essays, excavation reports, and book reviews, as well as society notes and accounts of field visits. The journal has included "much valuable material on the manuscripts, genealogy, heraldry, toponymy, folklore and literature of Wales".
Mary Vaughan Jones was a celebrated Welsh children's author and schoolteacher.
Brynley Francis Roberts, known as Bryn Roberts, is a Welsh scholar and critic, who has written much on the Welsh language and Celtic history. He was Professor of Welsh Language and Literature at the University of Wales, Swansea 1978–1985 and Librarian of the National Library of Wales in 1985–1994, then made editor of the Dictionary of Welsh Biography in 1987 and of Y Traethodydd in 1999. He is on the council of the Honourable Society of Cymmrodorion and involved in the Morfa Chapel, Aberystwyth, part of the Presbyterian Church of Wales.
Welsh Book Studies / Llyfr yng Nghymru publishes academic and critical articles about past and current publishing in Wales. The magazine was first published in 1998. It contains English and Welsh material. It is published by Canolfan y Llyfr Aberystwyth Centre for the Book, a joint venture between the National Library of Wales, the University of Wales, Aberystwyth and the Welsh Books Council, formed in 1997.
The Journal of the Welsh Bibliographical Society was published annually from 1910 to 1984. It contained scholarly articles on Welsh writers, bibliographic research, and society notes in English and Welsh. It was published by the Welsh Bibliographical Society, which was founded in 1907 to promote the study of Welsh bibliography, publishing, printing and writing. Its principal activities were an annual meeting and lecture and publication of and monographs.
Transactions of the Honourable Society of Cymmrodorion / Trafodion Anrhydedd Gymdeithas y Cymmrodorion is the annual journal of the Honourable Society of Cymmrodorion, published from 1893. It contains historical and literary essays and reviews. The Transactions series ran alongside the earlier Y Cymmrodor until the latter series came to an end in 1951.

Y Cofiadur is published by Cymdeithas Hanes Annibynwyr Cymru, a society founded in 1920 by Undeb yr Annibynwyr Cymraeg. The first issue was published in 1923. It is an annual Welsh-language magazine on the history of religion and contains articles on the history of Welsh Independent churches and the individuals involved, with references. It also includes society notes. The magazine has been digitised by the Welsh Journals Online project at the National Library of Wales.
