The Lone Star Conference (LSC) is a college athletic conference affiliated with the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) at the Division II level. Member institutions are located in the South Central states, with schools in Texas, Oklahoma, and New Mexico, with two members in the Pacific Northwest states of Oregon and Washington competing as affiliates for football only.

The conference was originally formed in 1951 as the State Teachers Conference, and was temporarily named the Pennsylvania State Teachers College Conference in 1956 before being assuming its current name in 1964.

While playing his senior season for Harrodsburg High School, he was named the National Player of the Year by Sports Illustrated and 1997 National High School Defensive Player of the Year by USA Today and The Sporting News. Johnson attended the University of Kentucky, where he was a Third-team All-American and All-Southeastern Conference (SEC) First-team defender.

Christopher Carroll Slade is an American former professional football player who was a linebacker in the National Football League (NFL) for nine seasons. He played college football for the Virginia Cavaliers, and earned consensus All-American honors. A second-round pick in the 1993 NFL draft, he played professionally for the New England Patriots and Carolina Panthers of the NFL. Slade was recognized as a Pro Bowl selection and All-Pro after the 1997 season. He is currently an assistant coach at Virginia.

The Albany Great Danes football program is the intercollegiate American football team for the University at Albany located in the U.S. state of New York. The team competes in the NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) as a member of CAA Football, the legally separate football league administered by the multi-sports Coastal Athletic Association (CAA). The 2013 season was the Great Danes' first in CAA Football, following a 14-year tenure in the Northeast Conference. Ten years later, they won their first-ever CAA championship, sharing the title with Villanova and Richmond.
George Joseph O'Leary is a former American football coach and college athletics administrator. He served as the head football coach of the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets from 1994 to 2001 and the UCF Knights from 2004 to 2015. He was famously hired in 2001 to be the head coach of the Notre Dame Fighting Irish but resigned after five days for lying on his resume. O'Leary was an assistant coach for the Minnesota Vikings of the National Football League (NFL) from 2002 to 2004, and an assistant coach for the Syracuse Orange and San Diego Chargers.

He was selected by the Seattle Seahawks in the 2012 NFL draft, after playing college football at Louisville. He also played for the New England Patriots and the Chicago Bears. Scruggs was a defensive line coach for the New York Jets, Cincinnati Bearcats and the Wisconsin Badgers.

As an assistant coach, he won three Super Bowls with the Dallas Cowboys of the National Football League (NFL) and two national championships at the University of Miami. He played college football at Tennessee State University.
