Central Volunteer Headquarters, Royal Corps of Signals (CVHQ, Royal Corps of Signals) is a special administrative group of the Royal Corps of Signals formed to oversee the national reserve units of the corps.
Central Volunteer Headquarters, Royal Corps of Signals (CVHQ, Royal Corps of Signals) was formed in October 2001 to look after TA specialists of the Signals. [1] [2] The new unit was organised as follows: [1] [2] [3]
From its formation in 2001, the CVHQ formed part of 2nd (National Communications) Signal Brigade until that brigade's disbandment in late 2009. Following the brigade's disbandment, the CVHQ join the 11th Signal Brigade with the same role and organisation. [1] [3] One year after the formation of the group, 81 Signal Squadron was moved under command of 10th Signal Regiment permanently. [5] [6]
Under the Army 2020 programme, the Land Information Assurance Group moved under Joint Forces Command, while the remainder of the CVHQ remained at its position and station. [7] Under the Army 2020 programme, on 1 May 2014, the Land Information and Communications Services Group was redesignated as 254 (Specialist Group Information Services) Signal Squadron and formed a new sub-unit, designated as the Joint Cyber Unit in 2013. [8]
Under the reorganisation of the Royal Corps of Signals in June 2020, the Joint Cyber Unit was moved under command of the new 13th Signal Regiment forming 224 (Cyber Protection Team) Signal Squadron. [9]

Signals units are among the first into action, providing the battlefield communications and information systems essential to all operations. Royal Signals units provide the full telecommunications infrastructure for the Army wherever they operate in the world. The Corps has its own engineers, logistics experts and systems operators to run radio and area networks in the field. It is responsible for installing, maintaining and operating all types of telecommunications equipment and information systems, providing command support to commanders and their headquarters, and conducting electronic warfare against enemy communications.
The 2nd Signal Brigade, was a military formation of the British Army composed of Royal Corps of Signals units. The brigade was first formed following the reorganisation of the old Territorial Army in 1967, and was disbanded in 2012 under the Army 2020 programme. However, later the 2nd Signal Group was formed continuing the lineage of the old brigade, before it was disbanded in 2018.
LICSG is now the reserve element of a regular Royal Signals unit 15th Signal Regiment and as of 1 May 2014 became 254 Signal Squadron.
The 14th Signal Regiment is a part of the British Army's Royal Corps of Signals. The regiment's role is to provide electronic warfare (EW) capability in support of deployed Land Commanders, in order to enable operations in the electronic battlespace. It is the only British Army regiment capable of conducting sustainable electronic warfare in support of national operations worldwide. The regiment is currently based at Cawdor Barracks, on the site of the former RAF Brawdy, near Haverfordwest, in South Wales.
The 1st Signal Brigade, formerly known as the 1st Signal Group, is a brigade of the British Army. The group was first formed in 1968 as a result of the 1966 Defence White Paper which expanded support for NATO and the British Army of the Rhine. In 1987 the group was disbanded and merged into the 2nd Signal Brigade. In 1995 the brigade was reformed and has since deployed on operations across the globe in support of NATO and HQ Allied Rapid Reaction Corps.

3 RegimentArmy Air Corps is a regiment of the British Army and is part of the 16 Air Assault Brigade and Attack Helicopter Force (AHF), which is under the authority of the Joint Helicopter Command (JHC). As of April 2022, this regiment's commanding officer (CO) is Lieutenant Colonel Simon Wilsey and it is based at Wattisham Flying Station in Suffolk, England. This regiment operates the Apache AH Mk1 attack helicopter.
The 1st Artillery Brigade was a support formation of the British Army as part of the 3rd Division, and oversaw all close support artillery and deep fires units of the army. Under the Future Soldier programme, the brigade merged with 1st Armoured Infantry Brigade to form 1st Deep Recce Strike Brigade Combat Team.
The 289 Commando Troop originated as a parachute artillery regiment of the Territorial Army formed in London in 1956. It was transferred to the Royal Horse Artillery in 1960 and reduced to a battery in 1967. In 1977 it was re-roled as a Commando battery before being reduced to a troop in 1999. It is now based in Plymouth as a detached part of 266 Battery where they perform the same Close Support Light Gun Role as part of 104 Regiment Royal Artillery, whilst also supporting 29 Commando Regiment in an unofficial role.
The structure of the British Army of the United Kingdom (UK) is currently being reorganised to the Future Soldier structure. Due to these reforms taking place gradually, it is likely that some areas will not be fully complete. The British Army is commanded by the Chief of the General Staff (CGS), with Army Headquarters which is located in Andover, Hampshire. Subordinate to that post, there is a Commander Field Army, and a personnel and UK operations command, Home Command.

Originally formed in 1934, the regiment had a long history of service before being disbanded in 1994 following the initial Options for Change reforms.
