Ces53 is the graffiti name of Tonny van Hoenderloo van Zandt, [1] street art/graffiti artist from the Netherlands. [2] Ces53 has been active since 1985 and is the creator of many international street art/graffiti paintings, predominantly in European cities but also worldwide in Mexico, United States and Burma.

Work

Ces53 started as a traditional graffiti writer, one of the first to paint graffiti on trains in the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany. [3] He became world-famous because of his high-quality graffiti paintings, also adopted more traditional art forms during the years, including painting and sculpturing. He became renowned for his innovative styles, [4] quantity of work, and gained a lot of fame and followers within the graffiti community. Since 2005 Ces53 is also part of Lastplak, a world-famous Dutch street art collective.

In 1940, Rotterdam was subjected to heavy aerial bombardment by the Luftwaffe during the German invasion of the Netherlands during the Second World War. The objective was to support the German troops fighting in the city, break Dutch resistance and force the Dutch army to surrender. Bombing began at the outset of hostilities on 10 May and culminated with the destruction of the entire historic city centre on 14 May, an event sometimes referred to as the Rotterdam Blitz. According to an official list published in 2022, at least 1,150 people were killed, with 711 deaths in the 14 May bombing alone, and 85,000 more were left homeless.

Jack Stewart was an American artist. Born in Atlanta, Georgia, he began private art lessons when he was seven. When he was about nine he went to classes at the High Museum of Art. In his early to mid-teens he apprenticed to the sculptor/painter Steffen Thomas. During WWII he served in Patton's Third Army as a combat infantryman, entering combat in the Battle of the Bulge. After the war he earned a BFA degree at Yale University, where he studied with Josef Albers and Willem de Kooning. He studied architecture at Columbia University and later earned MA and Ph.D. degrees at New York University. In 1976 Stewart married painter and art administrator Regina Serniak Stewart. His first wife and their son are deceased.

Robin Winters is an American conceptual artist and teacher based in New York. Winters is known for creating solo exhibitions containing an interactive durational performance component to his installations, sometimes lasting up to two months. As an early practitioner of Relational Aesthetics Winters has incorporated such devices as blind dates, double dates, dinners, fortune telling, and free consultation in his performances. Throughout his career he has engaged in a wide variety of media, such as performance art, film, video, writing prose and poetry, photography, installation art, printmaking, drawing, painting, ceramic sculpture, bronze sculpture, and glassblowing.
