The six teams (ordered by seeding) that made the postseason in the league were the Sioux City Bandits, Salina Liberty, Omaha Beef, Billings Outlaws, Southwest Kansas Storm, and the Wyoming Mustangs. The Salina Liberty and the Sioux City Bandits had Byes to the Semifinals.

This was the second season in which four teams per conference advanced to the Champions Bowl playoffs, with the top seed in each conference hosting their conference's fourth seed, and second seeds hosting third seeds in the first round.

The team was founded in 2018 as an expansion franchise for the 2019 season. The team was dormant for the 2021 season, but did not return in for the 2022 season.
