Chandru Selvaraj is an Indian cinematographer who works in the Malayalam film industry. [1] [2] [3] He has received two Kerala State Film Awards for Best Cinematography for his acclaimed work in Kayattam (2020) and Vazhakku (2022). [4] [5]

Early life

Chandru was born in Ooty, Tamil Nadu. His father's job required frequent transfers, which eventually led his family to settle in Chennai. Initially, Chandru pursued a career in engineering because of the suggestions from his family. However, he made the bold decision to take up filmmaking despite initial objections from his family. [3]

Career

He started his career by assisting cinematographer Tirru. He has assisted on seven films in a span of four years, during which he was introduced to Sanal Kumar Sasidharan by an associate of Karthik Subbaraj while they were working on Petta (2019). [1]

In 2021, Chandru won the Kerala State Film Award for Best Cinematography for his work in Kayattam (2020), which was his feature debut film. The film was entirely shot on an iPhone XS Max in the Himalayas. [2] [6]

In 2022, he worked on Mahaveeryar , directed by Abrid Shine and starring Asif Ali and Nivin Pauly in the lead roles. He won the Kerala State Film Award for Best Cinematography, again, for his acclaimed work in the film. His collaboration with Sanal Kumar Sasidharan on Kayattam was a significant turning point in his career as he got to work with him again in 2022, in Vazhakku . [1] [7]

He made his acting debut in Vineeth Sreenivasan's directorial debut, Malarvaadi Arts Club, in 2010 and made his breakthrough in the 2012 film Thattathin Marayathu.

Oraalppokkam is a 2014 Malayalam film written and directed by Sanalkumar Sasidharan. It is the first Malayalam movie that has been produced through online crowdfunding. This is an initiative of Kazhcha Chalachithra Vedi, a film society movement based in Thiruvananthapuram. Kazhcha has a history of producing short movies with the financial contribution from film lovers. Oraalppokkam is the fourth venture of Kazhcha. It is claimed that Oraalppokkam will be copyleft after five years from the date of release.

Mahaveeryar is a 2022 Indian Malayalam-language fantasy drama film written and directed by Abrid Shine, based on a short story by M. Mukundan. It was produced by Pauly Jr. Pictures and Indian Movie Makers. The film stars Nivin Pauly, Asif Ali, Shanvi Srivastava, Lal, and Siddique.

The 53rd Kerala State Film Awards, presented by the Kerala State Chalachitra Academy, was announced by Saji Cherian, Minister of Cultural Affairs, Kerala on 21 July 2023.

Vazhakku (transl. Quarrel) is a 2022 Malayalam film directed and edited by Sanal Kumar Sasidharan starring Tovino Thomas, Kani Kusruti, Sudev Nair, and Azees Nedumangad. The film is about a lawyer named Siddharthan who is going through a divorce. He meets a woman named Sathi and her daughter, who are also going through marital problems. The two families are going through their difficult times.

Deva Nandha is an Indian child actress who appears in the Malayalam and Tamil films. She is best known for portraying Kallu in Malikappuram (2022), Sarah in Thottappan (2019), Anna Theresa in My Santa (2019), Catherine in Simon Daniel (2022) and Cloudin in Neymar (2023).

Ratheesh Balakrishnan Poduval(Malayalam: രതീഷ് ബാലകൃഷ്ണൻ പൊതുവാൾ; ) is an Indian film director, screenwriter in Malayalam cinema. He made his debut cinema with Android Kunjappan Version 5.25, released on 8 November 2019. His films include Kanakam Kaamini Kalaham, Nna Thaan Case Kodu, Madanolsavam. He won Best Screen play award in 53rd Kerala state film awards for the film Nna Thaan Case Kodu.
