Charity Angya was a Nigerian Vice Chancellor at Benue State University. [1]

Life

Charity Angya graduated at the University of Jos in 1983. [2] She took her honours and doctorate at the University of Ibadan.

In 2000 Charity Angya's plays were published under the title "The Cycle of the Moon, and Other Plays" [3] and in 2005 her book titled "Perspectives on Violence Against Women in Nigeria" was published.

Angya was appointed to be Vice Chancellor of Benue State University in November 2010 where she was already working. [4]

Professor Msugh N. Kembe took over from Angya as the Vice-chancellor on 3 November 2015. [5]

In 1 June 2021 Angya was at a meeting of women concerned at the number of killings by "herdsman". The women met at a hotel dressed in mourning clothes and called on the President to take action. Spokespeople for the women were Mrs Rebecca Apezan who was a former member of parliament and Angya as a former vice-chancellor. [6]

Private life

She is married to Paul Angya who is a technocrat. [7]

Msugh Moses Kembe is an academic and the 5th substantive Vice chancellor of Benue State University. He was appointed by Benue state governor Dr. Samuel Ortom and assumed office on November 3, 2015.

The 2019 Benue State gubernatorial election occurred on March 9, 2019. Incumbent PDP Governor Samuel Ortom won re-election for a second term, defeating APC Emmanuel Jime and several minor party candidates.

The 2023 Benue State gubernatorial election will take place on 11 March 2023, to elect the Governor of Benue State, concurrent with elections to the Benue State House of Assembly as well as twenty-seven other gubernatorial elections and elections to all other state houses of assembly. It will be held two weeks after the presidential election and National Assembly elections. Incumbent PDP Governor Samuel Ortom is term-limited and cannot seek re-election to a third term.
