Charleroi High School is a public high school located in Charleroi, Pennsylvania, USA. The High School is operated by the Charleroi School District. It was built in 1965, and at the time was noted for being one of the few high schools in Pennsylvania to have a Planetarium. It was renovated in 1999-2001

Monessen is part of the Pittsburgh metropolitan area, the Rivers of Steel National Heritage Area, as well as the Laurel Highlands. It sits across the Monongahela from North Charleroi.

Charleroi is a city and a municipality of Wallonia, located in the province of Hainaut, Belgium. The city is situated in the valley of the Sambre, in the south-west of Belgium, not far from the border with France. By 1 January 2008, the total population of Charleroi was 201,593. The metropolitan area, including the outer commuter zone, covers an area of 1,462 square kilometres (564 sq mi) with a total population of 522,522 by 1 January 2008, ranking it as the 5th most populous in Belgium after Brussels, Antwerp, Liège, and Ghent. The Class D level Pennsylvania–Ohio–Maryland League began in 1906. By 1908, however, this baseball minor league was extinct. Cumberland, Maryland dropped out after 1906, leaving Maryland unrepresented in 1907. West Virginia was in the loop for about three weeks when Butler moved to Piedmont, West Virginia, but the team moved on to Charleroi, Pennsylvania.

The Charleroi–Monessen Bridge, officially the John K. Tener Memorial Bridge, is a two lane structure spanning the Monongahela River. The bridge connects North Charleroi in Washington County, Pennsylvania and Monessen in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania. The structure connects Route 88 on the west bank of the river and Route 906 on the east side. The bridge, which opened in 2013, replaced a 1906 structure. The original bridge closed in 2009 due to structural deficiency.

The Charleroi Tigers were a minor league baseball team based in Charleroi, Pennsylvania from 1934 until 1936. However the team can be traced back to 1927 as the Charleroi Babes of the Middle Atlantic League. The name of the club changed in 1929 to the Charleroi Governors. The Governors ended play in the league in 1931; however, a Charleroi Tigers began play in 1934, as an affiliate of the Detroit Tigers, in the Pennsylvania State Association, and continued to play until 1936.
