Scouts South Africa is the World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM) recognised Scout association in South Africa. Scouting began in the United Kingdom in 1907 through the efforts of Robert Baden-Powell and rapidly spread to South Africa, with the first Scout troops appearing in 1908. South Africa has contributed many traditions and symbols to World Scouting.

John Clive Cecil May from London, United Kingdom, was the Vice-Chairman of the World Scout Committee, the main executive body of the World Organization of the Scout Movement. He was elected at the 38th World Scout Conference in South Korea for a six-year term, the first United Kingdom Scouter elected since former Chief Scout of the Scout Association, Sir Garth Morrison. Yoritake Matsudaira present chairman of Hongō Gakuen, served as the international commissioner and member of the board of directors of the Scout Association of Japan, as well as a member of the Asia-Pacific Regional Scout Committee and a founding member of the World Buddhist Scout Brotherhood. Matsudaira retired from the post of International Commissioner on reaching the retirement age of 65 in 2003, and presently serves as president (Renmei-chō) of the Kagawa Scout Council.
Takemichi Toby Suzuki, a former elected member of the World Scout Committee from 1999 to 2005, served as the former Chairman of the Information and Communications Technology subcommittee of the Asia-Pacific Region of the World Organization of the Scout Movement from 1995 to 1998, former member of the National Executive Council and the National Board of the Scout Association of Japan from 1993 to 2007.
John George Ravenhall of Melbourne, Australia served as the Chief Commissioner of the Scout Association of Australia from 2003 to early 2009, a member of the Asia-Pacific Regional Scout Committee and a member of the World Training Committee and World Adult Resources Committee of the World Organization of the Scout Movement.

John A. Landau was a member of the Rhodesian Parliament who served as the Chief Scout of the Scout Association of Rhodesia, which has since become the Scout Association of Zimbabwe. In 1975, he was head of the Rhodesian contingent at the 14th World Scout Jamboree in Norway.

Herbert William Garnet de la Hunt served as the Chief Scout of the Boy Scouts of South Africa, as well as the Vice-Chairman of the Africa Scout Committee, and was the first South African to be elected to the World Scout Committee, a member from 1996 to 2002 and held the post of chairman of the committee. In 1994, de la Hunt was awarded the 234th Bronze Wolf, the only distinction of the World Organization of the Scout Movement, awarded by the World Scout Committee for exceptional services to world Scouting. On 27 April 2013 he received the Order of the Baobab.
Colin James Inglis (1928-2005) served as the Chief Scout and the International Commissioner of the Boy Scouts of South Africa, and was the creator of the National Senior Scout Adventure.
Derek Milton Twine FRSA is a British charity CEO, trustee and consultant who served as the Chief Scout Executive of the Scout Association from 1996 to 2013. He is an elected member of the Council of the Scout Association. He is an Honorary Lay Canon in the Diocese of Leeds. He was Chair of Bradford Cathedral Council 2013-2023, and since 2023 is a member of Ripon Cathedral Consultative Council. He has been vice-chair of the Church Urban Fund, and a member of Council of the National Trust. In 2020 he was appointed by the Secretary of State as a member of the Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority, and is Deputy Chair of the Authority.
Billy Goh Piak Chiang served as the Assistant Chief Commissioner, Executive Director and International Commissioner of the Singapore Scout Association.
Dr. Gisle Johnson was Chief Scout of the Norges Speiderforbund from 1982 to 1986, and served on the European Scout Committee from 1977 to 1983, as the Chairman the last three years.

Shree Ram Lamichhanne from Lalitpur, Nepal, served as the Chief Commissioner of Nepal Scouts and as the Regional Vice-Chairman of the Asia-Pacific Regional Scout Committee of the World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM), and as an elected volunteer member from 2009 to 2015, presently serving as Chairman of the Awards Committee.
