Charles Osei Asibey "The Barrister" is the president of the Africa Armwrestling Federation [1] [2] and the vice president of the World Armwrestling Federation. [3] He was voted into office as the president of the federation in July 2022. [4] He is a retired broadcast journalist who is also the founder and current president of the Ghana Armwrestling Federation. He also doubles as the general secretary of the Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG). [5] [6] He is also the former communications director for the Ghana Olympic Committee. [7]

He founded the Ghana Armwrestling Federation in September 2016 and was elected General Secretary of SWAG in October 2019. [8] [9]

In November 2019 Osei Asibey honoured as best Sports Administrator in United States of America by 3G Media as the Best Sports Administrator for 2019. [7] [10] He has almost 3 decades experience of broadcast work with Radio Gold, Groove FM now Adom FM, Peace FM, Happy FM and Asempa FM. [7]

In July 2018 the president of the Ghana Olympic Committee Ben Nunoo Mensah commended Osei Asibey as leader of the Ghana Armwrestling Federation on his efforts to make the sport popular in Ghana. [11]

Ghana President Nana Akufo-Addo commended Charles Osei Asibey for his contribution to sports development during his victory speech after winning the 2016 General Elections in Ghana. [12] [13]

Bice Osei Kuffour is a Ghanaian hiplife musician, known popularly by the name Obour, which means "stone" in the Akan language. He is the immediate past president of the Musicians Union of Ghana, an umbrella group that unites all musicians in Ghana irrespective of genre. Bice Osei Kuffour contested the NPP primaries elections in the Asante Akyem South constituency as a parliamentary candidate. He was later appointed as secretary to the NPP 2020 Campaign Ashanti Region Advertising Committee. They had originally been scheduled for 7 November 2016, but the date was later rejected by Parliament. General elections were held in Ghana on 7 December 2020. Incumbent President Nana Akufo-Addo of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) was re-elected in the first round after securing a majority of the votes. Former President John Dramani Mahama announced that he would contest the results. At the Supreme Court, a petition challenging the result was filed on 30 December, and unanimously dismissed on 4 March 2021 for lack of merit.

The federation was founded by broadcast journalist Charles Osei Asibey and inaugurated in September 2016 by the National Sports Authority as the 40th sporting federation in Ghana. The Ghana Armwrestling Federation is affiliated to the World Armwrestling Federation and has been a member of the international body since 2016. Charles Osei Asibey is the President of the Ghana Armwrestling Federation. Husseini Akueteh is the head referee of the Ghana Armwrestling Federation.

The presidency of Nana Akufo-Addo began on 7 January 2017. Following the 2016 Ghanaian general elections, Nana Akufo-Addo the flag-bearer of the New Patriotic Party, succeeded John Mahama as the 5th President of the Ghanaian Fourth Republic after winning by a landslide. He won a second term on 9 December 2020 in a tightly contested race against National Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate and former president, John Mahama.
