The United Arab Emirates, sometimes simply called the Emirates, is a country in Western Asia at the southeast end of the Arabian Peninsula on the Persian Gulf, bordering Oman to the east and Saudi Arabia to the south, as well as sharing maritime borders with Qatar to the west and Iran to the north. These first two lines run underground in the city center and on elevated viaducts elsewhere. All trains are fully automated and driverless, and, together with stations, are air conditioned with platform edge doors to make this possible. Architecture firm Aedas designed the metro's 45 stations, two depots and operational control centers. The Al Ghurair Investment group were the metro's builders.

Almas Tower is a 68-storey, 360 m (1,180 ft), supertall skyscraper in the Jumeirah Lakes Towers, Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Construction of the office building began in early 2005 and was completed in 2009 with the installation of some remaining cladding panels at the top of the tower. The building was topped out in 2008, and became the tallest building in Dubai until 2009 when it was surpassed by Burj Khalifa.

Clarita de Quiroz is a Scottish singer/songwriter and model from Edzell. De Quiroz is a classically trained pianist and percussionist, who was named north-east Scotland's "Young Musician of the Year" in 1998. In August 2008, De Quiroz appeared in the video for MC Harvey's "If I Was Your Man", the shooting of which was interrupted by Fife Police, as it was taking place close to the home of Prime Minister Gordon Brown. Her first single, "Summertime", was released in September 2008. She is also known for supporting Akon in Scotland during 2007 as well as Amp Fiddler. De Quiroz is now based in the UAE.

The Dubai International Stadium, formerly known as the Dubai Sports City Cricket Stadium, is a multi-purpose stadium in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. It is mainly used for cricket and is one of three stadiums in the country, the other two being Sharjah Cricket Association Stadium and Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi. It has a capacity of 25,000 spectators, but is expandable to 30,000 spectators. It is a part of the Dubai Sports City in Dubai. The architect of this project was the Canadian architect, Awsam Matloob.

Dubai Trolley is a tram system in Downtown Dubai. It boasts a number of unique trams specially designed for Emaar Properties. They travel at an operational speed of 10 km per hour. The trolleys are double-decker and can convey 50 passengers, who have the options of the open-deck or the air-conditioned seating. They convey passengers free of charge.
