The Chatham Granite Club is a historic 5-sheet curling club in Chatham, Ontario, Canada. It is located in downtown Chatham on William Street North.
The Chatham Granite was founded in 1862 as the Chatham Curling Club. For the first 30 years, the club played on the Thames River. In 1892, they settled at the club's current location, and a new building was built in 1903. Artificial ice was installed in 1929 when the curling rink was remodeled into a skating, hockey and curling arena. In 1939, the club was renovated into just a curling rink. [1] In 1965 a new arena structure was built out of British Columbia cedar, as it is seen today. In 1970 a new urethane pad under the ice was installed. In 1977 a new addition was completed at a cost of $180,000, locker rooms and the upstairs bar and lounge were enlarged by 15 feet. This allowed for the construction of a board room, a new bar, as well as a professional kitchen facility. The club has five sheets of curling ice, lockers on the main level and a lounge upstairs that was refurbished in 2017.
The Chatham Granite Club has sent two teams to the Brier, in 1949 and 1953 when Peter Gilbert won the Provincial championships. Peter Gilbert is the oldest curler to ever compete at the Brier, at the age of 73. [2]
The club was the first winner of The Dominion Curling Club Championships (men's division) in 2009. [3]
The Brier, known as the Montana's Brier for sponsorship reasons, is the annual Canadian men's curling championship, sanctioned by Curling Canada. The current event name refers to its main sponsor, Montana's, a Canadian restaurant chain. "Brier" originally referred to a brand of tobacco sold by the event's first sponsor, the Macdonald Tobacco Company.
CurlON is the governing body of curling in Southern Ontario. Northern Ontario is governed by the Northern Ontario Curling Association (NOCA). The CurlON sends a team to represent Team Ontario at all major Canadian Championships. The NOCA sends a separate team to all of these events.
The Ontario Tankard is the Southern Ontario provincial championship for men's curling. The winner represents Team Ontario at the Tim Hortons Brier. The tournament is overseen by CurlON.
The 2011 Dominion Tankard, southern Ontario men's provincial curling championship was held February 7–13 at the Peach King Centre in Grimsby, Ontario. The winning team of Glenn Howard will represent Ontario at the 2011 Tim Hortons Brier in London, Ontario.
The 2012 Dominion Tankard, Southern Ontario men's provincial curling championship, was held from February 6 to 12, hosted by the Stratford Country Club at the Stratford Rotary Complex in Stratford, Ontario. The winning team of Glenn Howard, will represent Ontario at the 2012 Tim Hortons Brier in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.

The 1927 Macdonald Brier Tankard, the Canadian men's national curling championship, was held March 1–3 at the Granite Club in Toronto. This edition of the Brier would be the first, with it also being the first time it was hosted in Ontario, and the first time it was hosted in Toronto's Granite Club.

The 2017 Recharge With Milk Men's Tankard, better known as the Ontario Tankard was the 2017 edition of the Ontario men's provincial curling championship to determine who will represent the province of Ontario at the 2017 Tim Hortons Brier, the national curling championship of Canada. In 2017, the Tankard was contesteded in conjunction with the 2017 Ontario Scotties Tournament of Hearts, at the Cobourg Community Centre in Cobourg, Ontario, January 29-February 5, 2017.
The 2018 Ontario Tankard, known as the Dairy Farmers of Ontario Tankard for sponsorship reasons is the 2018 provincial men's curling championship for Southern Ontario, was held from January 31 to February 4 at the Canada Summit Centre in Huntsville, Ontario. The winning John Epping team represented Ontario at the 2018 Tim Hortons Brier in Regina, Saskatchewan.
Travis Colter is a Canadian curler from Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. He currently plays second on Team Stuart Thompson. He was a member of the 2019 Nova Scotia men's championship rink that competed at the 2019 Tim Hortons Brier, Canada's national men's curling championship.

The 1940 Macdonald Brier, the Canadian men's national curling championship, was held from March 4 to 7, 1940 at the Winnipeg Amphitheatre in Winnipeg, Manitoba. This was the first Brier to be held outside The Granite Club in Toronto as the Brier became more of a national event as it would travel around the country. Winnipeg was chosen to host the event after an invitation from the Manitoba Curling Association, and due to Manitoba's dominance at the Brier up to that point.
