  • Vietnam and India had to go to the sudden death tie break match after both the teams score ended with 2 to 2 at the end of standard time control. The sudden death had to be introduced, which was played on three boards with 6 minutes for white & 5 minutes for black. Vietnam beat India 2–1 to win the Bronze medal. [1]

A Weiqi tournament was held at the 2010 Asian Games in Guangzhou for the first time at an Asiad. The three events in the competition - men's team, women's team and mixed doubles — were held between 20 and 26 November 2010 at the Guangzhou Chess Institute.

The National Olympic Committee of Thailand sent 593 athletes to Guangzhou, and competed in 39 out of 42 sports. Thailand ended the games at 52 overall medals including 11 gold medals. These games witnessed first ever gold medals in Taekwondo.

Athletics at the 2010 Asian Games was held in Guangzhou, China from 21 to 27 November 2010. A total of 47 events were contested – 24 by men and 23 by women – matching the Olympic athletics programme. The 42 track and field events on the programme were hosted at the Aoti Main Stadium while the marathons and racewalking competitions took place around the city's University Town. Sixteen Asian Games records were broken during the seven-day competition.

Cycling at the 2010 Asian Games was held in Guangzhou, China. Road bicycle racing was held at the Triathlon Venue from November 20 to 23, while track cycling was contested at Guangzhou Velodrome from November 13 to 17, and mountain biking was contested at Dafushan Mountain Bike Course on November 18, and BMX racing was contested at Guangzhou Velodrome on November 19.

Gymnastics at the 2010 Asian Games was held at the Asian Games Town Gymnasium in Guangzhou, China from November 13 to 26, 2010.

Table tennis at the 2010 Asian Games was held in Guangzhou Gymnasium, Guangzhou, China from November 13 to 20, 2010. Singles, doubles, and team events were held at Guangzhou Gymnasium.

Wrestling was contested by men and women at the 2010 Asian Games in Guangzhou, China. Only men competed in Greco-Roman wrestling while both men and women contested for medals in freestyle wrestling. All competition were held from November 21 to 26 at Huagong Gymnasium.

Sepak takraw was contested at the 2010 Asian Games in Guangzhou, China by both men and women from November 16 to 27 2010. Team, Regu, and Doubles competitions were all involved in the Sepak takraw competition with all games taking place at Haizhu Sports Center. Each country, except the host country, was limited to two entries per gender.

Nguyễn Thị Hoài Thu is a Vietnamese taekwondo practitioner. She is a three-time medalist for the women's featherweight division at the Southeast Asian Games. She also captured two silver medals in the 53 and 59 kg classes at the 2006 Asian Games in Doha, Qatar, and at the 2010 Asian Games in Guangzhou, China, losing out to South Korea's Lee Sung-Hye and Thailand's Sarita Phongsri, respectively.

The 2013 AFC Champions League Final was the final match of the 2013 AFC Champions League, the thirty-second round of the top grade Asian club football tournament. It was organized by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC). It was the eleventh round under the title of AFC Champions League.

The Women's football tournament at the 2010 Asian Games was held in Guangzhou in China from 8 November to 25 November.

The China women's national football team has represented China at the FIFA Women's World Cup on eight occasions in 1991, 1995, 1999, 2003, 2007, 2015, 2019 and 2023, finishing as runners up once (1999) and once in fourth place (1995).
