Unlike most social networks, Chime.In is focused on providing relevant content found by interest, rather than a content-driven algorithm. The platform is designed as a place to facilitate real dialogues with others and let users learn and share with those who have similar interests.
Chime.In aims to revitalize interest-based online discussions by connecting users to a variety of web-based forums and supporting user-created in-app communities. Its stated goal is to "bring back real connections and conversation via forums," blending external forums with curated in-app dialogue spaces.
Unlike the original Chime.in platform (launched in 2011 by UberMedia and now defunct), the new iteration under Codelux focuses on mobile accessibility and community-driven interactions. Future updates aim to introduce features such as private friend groups, content sharing, and more customizable in-app forum creation.
Version 2.0.0 - "The Big Update"
While Chime.In is active and available on both the major app stores, the developers have stated that a significant update of the app is in the works under version 2.0.0. The update will include additional forums and content as well as features such as the ability to create a Chime.In profile, find and follow friends, send direct messages (DMs), and create in-app forums to shore up any missing content or communities.
