Chiriquí Fútbol Club was a Panamanian football team based in La Concepción de Bugaba, Chiriquí.

La Concepción is a corregimiento in Bugaba District, Chiriquí Province, Panama. It is the seat of Bugaba District. It has a land area of 66.9 square kilometres (25.8 sq mi) and had a population of 21,356 as of 2010, giving it a population density of 319.2 inhabitants per square kilometre (827/sq mi). Its population as of 1990 was 17,978; its population as of 2000 was 19,330.

Bugaba District is a district (distrito) of Chiriquí Province in Panama. The population according to the 2000 census was 68,570. The district covers a total area of 884 km². The capital lies at the city of La Concepción.

History

The club was created in 2010 as part of the Liga Nacional de Ascenso expansion project for the 2010–11 season. [1]

Liga Nacional de Ascenso

The Liga Nacional de Ascenso is the second level of Panama's national football club championship. It was founded in 1997 and it consists of 8 teams who play to gain promotion to Liga Panameña de Fútbol. From 2008 the champion plays a playoff against the bottom team in the Liga Panameña de Fútbol in order to gain promotion while the bottom team of the league is relegated to the Copa Rommel Fernández. Before 2008 all champions were automatically promoted and the bottom team in Liga Panameña de Fútbol automatically relegated. The league presided by Ricardo Escobar.

The 2010–11 Liga Nacional de Ascenso season is the thirteenth edition since its establishment in 1996. A total of 16 teams contest the league, 10 of which returned from the 2009 season, 1 of which was promoted from Copa Rommel Fernández, and 5 of which have been invited to participate as part of the league's expansion project.
