Chris "Dune" Pastras (born July 14, 1972) [1] is an artist, skateboarder, entrepreneur, skate company owner, and television host. [2] [3] [4] [5] [6] [7] [8] [9]

Early life

Pastras grew up in New Jersey, raised with and mentored by Rodney Smith. [10] Pastras got his first skateboard in 1979 at age 7, a gift from Rodney. [11] Pastras is mixed-race, half-Greek and half-African-American. [11] Pastras was raised by two black women. [11]

Skateboarding career

Pastras' first sponsor was SHUT skateboards in his early teens. [11] In 1990, Pastras left SHUT to ride for World Industries, appearing in Rubbish Heap - 1989 and Two World Industries Men - 1990. After World Industries, Pastras rode for Blue skateboards. In 1992, Pastras and Jason Lee founded STEREO Skateboard. [12] [13] [10] Pastras starred in the STEREO skate video Tincan Folklore. [14]

Pastras graced the cover of Slap magazine in May 1992. [11] In 1993, Pastras graced the cover of Transworld Skateboarding. [11]

Stereo skateboards

Stereo used jazz imagery, combined with Pastras' artwork, and super-8 skate footage giving Stereo a unique vibe. [10]

Acting / Television host

In 2019, Pastras plays a host in the Jason Lee directed music video for E.B. The Younger titled: When The Time Comes. [15]

Deluxe was formed to distribute the Beware Record label, and other small record labels popular with skateboarders, along with Thunder Trucks and Supercush Bushings. Deluxe distributes six skateboard brands and owns DLXSF, a retail outlet.

Gonzales and Kaupas are also credited with the first known boardslides on a handrail. Gonzales' pioneering influence on skateboarding has caused him to be known as the "God Father" of modern street skateboarding, and he was named the "Most Influential Skateboarder of All Time" by Transworld Skateboarding magazine in December 2011. Gonzales was placed ahead of Tony Hawk (2nd) and Rodney Mullen (3rd)

Transworld Skateboarding (TWS) is an international magazine on skateboarding that was based in Carlsbad, California, United States. The publication also ran an accompanying website and video production company. In February 2019, the publishers of Transworld magazine, The Enthusiast Network, were purchased by American Media, Inc. In March 2019, the print edition of Transworld magazine was discontinued. It continues as a digital brand.

Alien Workshop (AWS) is an independent American skateboarding company that was founded in 1990 by Chris Carter, Mike Hill, and Neil Blender in Dayton, Ohio. Following periods under the ownership of the Burton snowboard company and original team rider Rob Dyrdek in 2012, the company was acquired by Pacific Vector Holdings in October 2013. Alien Workshop produced skateboard decks, wheels, apparel, and other skateboard accessories prior to its closure in May 2014. In 2015, Alien Workshop was revived with an all-amateur team and distribution through Tum Yeto. They released a series of new skate decks and Bunker Down, the brand's sixth video. As of 2016, Alien Workshop, led by Mike Hill phased out working with Tum-Yeto and moved all operations back to the Mound Laboratories in Miamisburg, Ohio. After a tumultuous ownership history they have returned to operations as an independent company.

The Skateboard Mag was an independently published American skateboarding magazine that published over 100 issues and featured professional skateboarder Danny Way on the cover of its inaugural issue, depicted mid-air while executing a gap to noseblunt slide on a construction known as the "Mega Ramp". As of February 2005, the publication was owned by a group that consists of seven partners, while the magazine employed eleven full-time staff members. In 2014, it became a part of a website and in 2017, its existence on the website stopped.
