Christopher Ship is an English journalist and presenter, currently working as the ITV News Royal Editor since 2017. He was the former Deputy Political Editor from 2013 to 2017. His position as Deputy Political Editor was filled by current Deputy Political Editor Anushka Asthana.
Ship was brought up in Southampton in Hampshire, and educated at Bellemoor School for Boys (since renamed Upper Shirley High School), a state comprehensive school in the city, where Craig David was a pupil, [1] followed by the University of Sussex, where he studied Media and French.
Ship was appointed senior political correspondent for the ITN-produced service in 2008 - promoted from political correspondent, as part of a reshuffle of ITV's political team. [2]
Since early 2009, Ship has been a presenter of the ITV Weekend News . [3]
Ship was given a new title of Deputy Political Editor in 2012.
On 13 December 2016 it was announced Ship is to become Royal Editor from 2017, replacing the retiring Tim Ewart. [4]
Since September 2019 he has also been a occasional relief presenter of the ITV Lunchtime News .
Rageh Omaar is a Somali-born British journalist and writer. He was a BBC world affairs correspondent, where he made his name reporting from Iraq. In September 2006, he moved to a new post at Al Jazeera English, where he presented the nightly weekday documentary series Witness until January 2010. The Rageh Omaar Report, first aired in February 2010, is a one-hour, monthly investigative documentary in which he reports on international current affairs stories. From January 2013, he became a special correspondent and presenter for ITV News, reporting on a broad range of news stories, as well as producing special in-depth reports from around the UK and further afield. A year after his appointment, Omaar was promoted to international affairs editor for ITV News. Since October 2015, alongside his duties as international affairs editor, he has been a deputy newscaster of ITV News at Ten. Since September 2017, Omaar has occasionally presented the ITV Lunchtime News including the ITV News London Lunchtime Bulletin and the ITV Evening News.
