The Christiana Mall Park & Ride is a park and ride lot and bus terminal located at the Christiana Mall in the unincorporated community of Christiana between Wilmington and Newark in New Castle County, Delaware. The park and ride serves DART First State buses, with service provided by 9 local bus routes serving New Castle County and two inter-county bus routes that provide service to Dover and seasonal service to Lewes.

Location and layout

The Christiana Mall Park & Ride is located at the Christiana Mall, a shopping mall located southeast of the interchange between Interstate 95 and Delaware Route 1/Delaware Route 7 in the unincorporated community of Christiana, situated between Wilmington and Newark in northern New Castle County, Delaware. [1] [2] The park and ride is located in the parking lot of the mall on the west side near Nordstrom. The Christiana Mall Park & Ride consists of a bus shelter with benches, bus schedules, and trash cans adjacent to the roadway. A sidewalk connects the park and ride to the mall entrance near Nordstrom. [2] The parking spaces for the park and ride are located in the mall's parking lot, with yellow paint used to delineate the park and ride area. [3]

History

The Christiana Mall Park & Ride was originally located along the mall's ring road to the north of the mall where Cabela's is currently located. [2] [3] On July 21, 2013, the park and ride was relocated to its current location to the west of Nordstrom. [3]

There are 9 local bus routes that connect the Christiana Mall Park & Ride to points in New Castle County. [1] The Route 5 bus connects the park and ride to Delaware Park Racetrack, Stanton, Newport, and downtown Wilmington. [4] The Route 15 bus connects the Christiana Mall Park & Ride to New Castle and downtown Wilmington. [5] The Route 33 bus connects the park and ride with the downtown areas of Wilmington and Newark. [6] The Route 37 bus provides rush hour weekday service to downtown Wilmington and the Amazon fulfillment center in Middletown. [7] The Route 44 bus connects the Christiana Mall Park & Ride to Delaware City. [8] The Route 51 bus connects the Christiana Mall Park & Ride to New Castle and downtown Wilmington. [9] The Route 54 bus connects the park and ride with Churchmans Crossing station, Bear, and the Walmart on Wilton Boulevard. [10] The Route 55 bus links the Christiana Mall Park & Ride with downtown Newark via Old Baltimore Pike. [11] The Route 64 bus connects the park and ride to Bear and Glasgow. [12] There are also two inter-county bus routes that stop at Christiana Mall Park & Ride along their routes between Wilmington and points in southern Delaware. [1] The Route 301 bus provides service from the Christiana Mall to Dover while the Route 305 "Beach Connection" bus provides seasonal weekend and holiday service in the summer months to Lewes. DE 4 is a four-lane road for much of its length.

Stanton is an unincorporated community in New Castle County, Delaware, United States, near the confluence of the Red Clay and White Clay Creeks. It is located in the southern end of Mill Creek Hundred.

Delaware Route 279 (DE 279) is a 1.05-mile (1.69 km) long state highway located in northern New Castle County, Delaware. It is signed north-south and runs from the Maryland state line southwest of Newark, where the road continues as Maryland Route 279 (MD 279), northeast to DE 4 and DE 896 in Newark. DE 279 follows a four-lane divided highway called Elkton Road and serves as part of the route connecting Elkton, Maryland with Newark. The roadway is maintained by the Delaware Department of Transportation (DelDOT). DE 279 was originally the westernmost portion of DE 2, designated in the 1930s. This portion of road was widened into a divided highway in 1972. In 2013, DE 2 was truncated from the Maryland state line to east of Newark to simplify the route designations through Newark, resulting in DE 279 being designated to its current alignment.

Belvedere is an unincorporated community in New Castle County, Delaware, United States. Belvedere is at the junction of state routes 62 and 141, north of Newport and south of Prices Corner, 7 miles (11 km) from downtown Wilmington. Belvedere uses the Wilmington ZIP code of 19804.

The Dover Transit Center is a park and ride lot and bus terminal located in the city of Dover in Kent County, Delaware. The transit center serves DART First State buses, with service provided by eight local bus routes serving Dover and Kent County and four inter-county bus routes that provide service to Wilmington, Newark, Georgetown, and Lewes. The Dover Transit Center opened in 2010 to replace the Water Street Transfer Center as the main bus terminal for DART First State in Dover.

In addition to DART First State buses, the Newark Transit Hub also serves Cecil Transit buses providing service to Elkton, Maryland. The transit hub opened in 2008.

The Lewes Transit Center is a park and ride lot and bus terminal owned by the Delaware Department of Transportation (DelDOT) that is located near the Five Points intersection southwest of the city of Lewes in Sussex County, Delaware. The transit center serves DART First State buses, with service provided by four local bus routes, three of which operate year-round, with expanded service during the summer months, and one of which operates seasonally during the summer months, serving Sussex County and the Delaware Beaches. The bus terminal also serves two inter-county bus routes that provide year-round service to Dover and summer weekend and holiday service from Wilmington. The Lewes Transit Center opened in 2017.
