Christina Lauren, the combined pen name of Christina Hobbs and Lauren Billings Luhrs, [1] is an American author duo of contemporary fiction, teen fiction and romance novels.
The pair met in 2009 while writing fanfiction online, and, in 2010, became co-authors, signing agent Holly Root from the Waxman-Leavell Literary Agency in 2011. [2] In 2017, Holly Root founded Root Literary. [3]
Author of twenty New York Times Bestselling novels, their work is currently translated in over 30 languages. [4]
Together, they present workshops and have been speakers at events such as RT Booklovers Convention, Book Expo of America (BEA), and Romance Writers of America (RWA), and are frequent guests at San Diego Comic-Con. [5] [6] [7] In 2024 they were invited to speak at Simon & Schuster's 100th Anniversary Celebration. [8]
In 2013, Beautiful Bastard was optioned by Constantin Film for a film adaptation. [9] The rights later reverted to the authors. [10]
The second series by the authors debuted in 2014. The first novel of the series, Sweet Filthy Boy, earned the Romantic Times Book of the Year award for 2014. [11] The series centers on a group of friends following graduation from college. Lauren has been praised for writing delectable heroes and strong-willed heroines to match. [12] Like books in the Beautiful series, all of the Wild Seasons books to date have hit the New York Times list. [4]
In 2018, Andy Fickman was scheduled to direct and produce music-driven romantic comedy Roomies with Jenna Dewan via her company, Everheart Productions. Christina Lauren was to write the screenplay. [13]
In 2024, screenwriter Tiffany Paulsen signed a deal to script In a Holidaze, a feature adaptation of the New York Times bestselling holiday rom-com novel of the same name, which is in development at Netflix. Alloy Entertainment's president and chief creative officer Leslie Morgenstein will produce alongside the company’s EVP Film, Elysa Koplovitz Dutton. [14]
Episode 49 of comedian Jon Gabrus's The Layman with Jon Gabrus podcast, "The Scientific Method at Home with Keith Luhrs and Lauren Billings Luhrs", released on June 1, 2016, features Billings and her husband playing a science team. [1]
Along with fellow writer Nina Bocci, the pair created and ran a non-profit organization known as Fandom Gives Back. From 2009 to 2012 Fandom Gives Back raised over $235,000 for Alex's Lemonade Stand. [108]
