Christine Apolot is a Ugandan teacher and politician. She was the local counsel five(LC5) chair for Kumi District. She was elected to that position in June 2016. In 2021 she contested as the women's representative Member of Parliament for Kumi District under the National Resistance Movement party challenging Amoding Monicah. [1] [2] [3] [4]

Background and education

Apolot was born from Kumi District. She attained a first class degree in Education from Kumi University. She also has a Certificate in Administrative law from the Law Development Centre(LDC). As of March 2021, she is pursuing a post graduate degree in Public administration at Uganda Management Institute(UMI). [5]

Career

Apolot started her career as a secondary school teacher, then she joined politics in 2016 under the National Resistance Movement(NRM) party as the Local Council 5 chairperson (LC5) in Kumi District. She became not only the first woman to occupy the seat in teso sub-region but one of the three women nationally to become LC5 chairpersons in Uganda. Currently she is the Women's Representative Member of Parliament elect for Kumi District in Uganda's 11th parliament. [6] [7]

Christine Nakwang Tubo also known as Christine Tubo Nakwang is a Ugandan politician who is currently the woman representative member of parliament for Kaabong District. Christine was among the National Resistance Movement (NRM) representative in the by- elections of 2021 which happened because Rose Lily Akello the former woman representative of Kaabong District opted to represent the newly created Karenga District that was carved out of Kaabong District. She was nominated over Fadouta Ahmed and Agnes Napio who were also under the NRM ticket. Nakwang was competing with Forum for Democratic Change (FDC)'s candidate Judith Adyaka Nalibe who abandoned the race over allegations of limited support from her party. The need to improve Education and health services in Kaabong District has been listed as the key targets of the newly elected member of parliament Christine Tubo Nakwang.

Dorcus Acen also known as Dorcas Acen is a Ugandan politician and Alebtong District Women's Representative in the eleventh Parliament of Uganda. She stood as the Alebtong District Women's Representative in the tenth Parliament of Uganda as an independent politician however she lost to Christine Acen attached to the National Resistance Movement. Christine Acen was the elected woman MP for Alebtong in the 2016. Christine completed Senior Six and started running her business.

Santa Okot is a Ugandan politician, women's activist and educator who serves as the Member of Parliament representing Pader District in the 11th Ugandan Parliament(2021-2026) and affiliated to the People's Progressive Party as a political party. Santa is the only MP in the 11th Parliament belonging to the People's Progressive Party. She is also the former member of the seventh Parliament of Uganda. In the 2001, she was the Woman Member of Parliament for Pader District representing the people of Aruu County under the National Resistance Movement political party. Florence Namayanja is a female Ugandan politician who was district woman representative of Bukoto County East, Masaka District. She was affiliated to the Democratic Party political party and now affiliated to National Unity Platform. In the 11th Parliament, she stood as the Candidate for LC5 Chairperson for Masaka City under the National Unity Platform although she lost the elections. She was the winner of Masaka city mayoral seat after defeating seven candidates including business tycoon, Emmanuel Lwasa with 28,824 votes.
