Cihad Erginay (born 24 September 1966) is a Turkish diplomat and current ambassador of Turkey to Afghanistan since 22 May 2021. [1] [2]

Education and career

Erginay graduated from Middle East Technical University with a bachelor's degree in International Relations. He joined the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1988 and served as the Turkish ambassador to Czech Republic, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Spain and Afghanistan at different times of his career. [3]

Turkmenistan's declaration of "permanent neutrality" was formally recognized by the United Nations in 1995. Ross L. Wilson is an American diplomat who was the chargé d'affaires of the United States to Afghanistan from 2020 to 2021. He was the U.S. Ambassador to Turkey from 2005 to 2008 and the U.S. Ambassador to Azerbaijan from 2000 to 2003, with the personal rank of Minister-Counselor. He also teaches part-time at Carleton College. Ambassador Wilson is also the director of the Dinu Patriciu Eurasia Center at the Atlantic Council.

Afghan passports are identity and travel documents issued by the Ministry of Interior to citizens of Afghanistan in order for them to visit other countries around the world. Every citizen with a valid Afghan identity card (Tazkira) can apply for and receive an Afghan passport, which is renewable every 5-10 years. The Afghan passport was introduced by Emir Abdur Rahman Khan in 1880. It recently became a biometric passport. Alam Gul Haqqani is the current head of the passport department.

In December 2022, Afghan Defense Minister Mullah Yaqoob along with Anas Haqqani made an official visit to the UAE. There he met with UAE President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Vice President Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.

The Embassy of India in Kabul is the diplomatic mission of the Republic of India to Afghanistan. The current Ambassador is Rudrendra Tandon.

The Taliban has ruled Afghanistan as the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan since taking control by force in 2021, overthrowing the internationally recognized Islamic Republic of Afghanistan. The takeover was widely criticized by the international community, and no countries have extended diplomatic recognition to the new regime, despite nominally maintaining relations with Afghanistan. The Taliban has aggressively campaigned for international recognition since the takeover. Several countries have vowed never to recognize the Islamic Emirate, and others have said they will do so only if human rights in the country are respected. Some countries have accredited Taliban diplomats at the chargé d'affaires level despite not recognizing the Islamic Emirate.

Afghanistan–Mongolia relations refers to the diplomatic relations between Afghanistan and Mongolia, two landlocked Asian countries.

The Embassy of Turkey in Kabul is the diplomatic mission of the Republic of Turkey to resident in Kabul. Formally, the embassy and its staff are still accredited to the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan. The ambassador meets with the unrecognized Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan officials and Taliban members as practically they are the current government of Afghanistan. In March 2022, Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu has expressed the intention to internationally recognise the Islamic Emirate. The current situation regarding Turkey recognising the Islamic Emirate is ambigious.
