José Antonio Delgado Sucre was the first Venezuelan mountaineer to reach the summit of five eight-thousanders and one of the most experienced climbers in Latin America. Known as el indio, Delgado led the first Venezuelan Everest expedition in 2001. On May 23 of that year, he and Marcus Tobía were the only members of the expedition to summit Everest. He held several records in mountaineering, such as the first paragliding flight from Pico Humboldt, Pico Bolívar, and Roraima. Delgado also made the fastest summit for a Venezuelan to the Aconcagua and Huascarán.

Gonzanamá is a canton in the Province of Loja, Ecuador. It is located in the south-east of the province, bordered by the cantons of Catamayo, Loja, Quilanga, Calvas, and Paltas. It is the "agricultural, farming, and craftsmanship capital of Loja." Gonzanamá covers 1272 km2 at an altitude of 2045 m, with a population of 17,276. The principal town is Gonzanamá.

María Fernanda Espinosa Garcés is an Ecuadorian politician and diplomat. She was the President of the United Nations General Assembly for the 73rd session from 2018 to 2019. She served as Minister of Foreign Affairs under President Lenín Moreno from May 2017 to June 2018. She also held several other Ministerial posts before, including as Minister of National Defense of from 28 November 2012 to 23 September 2014. She served as the Permanent Representative of Ecuador to the United Nations in Geneva from 2008 to 2009 and again from October 2014 to May 2017. Besides her political career she is also a poet and essayist.

The Ecuadorian Constitution requires that all children attend school until they achieve a “basic level of education,” which is estimated at nine school years.

The Miss Ecuador 2004 pageant was held on March 4, 2004. There were 14 candidates for the national title. Susana Rivadeneira from Pichincha was crowned by Andrea Jácome from Guayas. The winner represented Ecuador at Miss Universe 2004.

The Miss Ecuador 2006 was on March 16, 2006. There were 16 candidates for the national title. As Miss Ecuador 2006 was elected Catalina López, she was crowned by Ximena Zamora from Pichincha. The winner represented Ecuador at Miss Universe 2006.
