The province of Grosseto is a province in the Tuscany region of Italy. Its capital is the city of Grosseto. As of 2013 the province had a total population of 225,098 people.
Porto Torres is a comune (municipality) and a city of the Province of Sassari in north-west of Sardinia, Italy. Founded during the 1st century BC as Colonia Iulia Turris Libisonis, it was the first Roman colony of the entire island. It is situated on the coast at about 25 kilometres (16 mi) east of Falcone Cape and in the center of the Gulf of Asinara. The port of Porto Torres is the second biggest seaport of the island, followed by the port of Olbia. The town is very close to the main city of Sassari, where the local university takes office.

Monte Argentario is a comune (municipality) and a peninsula belonging to the Province of Grosseto in the Italian region Tuscany, located about 150 kilometres (93 mi) south of Florence and about 35 kilometres (22 mi) south of Grosseto. The peninsula is connected with the mainland by three spits of land which form two lagoons, the Laguna di Ponente on the west side and the Laguna di Levante on the east side of the middle dam. The two main villages on Monte Argentario are Porto Santo Stefano, chief town, facing north, and Porto Ercole facing south.

In the final, Emirates Team New Zealand beat Luna Rossa Challenge by seven races to one, and went on to challenge Oracle Team USA for the 2013 America's Cup.
The Yacht Club Santo Stefano (YCSS) is a sport club founded in 1960. The first clubhouse was an old brig, called Spluga, moored in the harbor of Porto Santo Stefano, in Italy. This original home, over the years became the meeting place of many important people at that time attending the Argentario peninsula, including the King and Queen of the Netherlands.
Circolo Canottieri Napoli is an Italian nautical club. Founded in 1914, its headquarters are located in the gardens of "Molosiglio", in San Ferdinando overlooking the bay of Naples. With more than a thousand members, it hosts several Olympic disciplines like boating, powerboat, swimming, water polo, tennis, triathlon and more. Their home court is in downtown Naples housed in the municipal swimming pool on Ulisse Prota Giurleo street.
The Republic of Siena in its progressive territorial growth saw its borders expanding especially in the territories of southern Tuscany in the current province of Grosseto. The possession of an "access to the sea" by Siena was therefore a natural continuation of its expansionary and commercial policy in the Maremma with the conquest of the ports of Talamone, Porto Ercole and Porto Santo Stefano.
