The government of Portland, Oregon is based on a city commission government system. Elected officials include the mayor, commissioners, and a city auditor. The mayor and commissioners are responsible for legislative policy and oversee the various bureaus that oversee the day-to-day operation of the city. Portland began using a commission form of government in 1913 following a public vote on May 3 of that year. Each elected official serves a four-year term, without term limits. Each city council member is elected at-large. In 2022, Portland residents approved a ballot measure to replace the commission form of government with a 12-member council elected in four districts using single transferable vote, with a professional city manager appointed by a directly-elected mayor, with the first elections to be held in 2024.

John Ryan began his seven-year term as Controller and Auditor-General on 2 July 2018. The Deputy Controller and Auditor-General is Greg Schollum. The 2019 Philadelphia mayoral election was held on November 5, 2019, to elect the mayor of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Incumbent mayor Jim Kenney, first elected in 2015, was running for reelection. Kenney was running on raising the minimum wage to $15 per hour, to maintain supervised injection sites and the city's soda tax, and to ensure the city's compliance with the Paris Climate Agreement.
Michael Lamb is an American politician and attorney who has served as Controller of the City of Pittsburgh since 2008 and was most recently a candidate for auditor general. He announced in September 2022 that he will not seek re-election to another term as city controller in the 2023 election.
The Pennsylvania Auditor General election of 2020 took place on November 3, 2020. Primary elections were originally due to take place on April 28, 2020. However, following concerns regarding the coronavirus pandemic the primaries were delayed until June 2, 2020. Under the Pennsylvania Constitution incumbent Democratic Auditor General Eugene DePasquale was ineligible to seek a third consecutive term.
The 2023 Philadelphia mayoral election will consist of Democratic and Republican primaries on May 16, 2023. The general election will be held on November 7, 2023 to elect the mayor of Philadelphia.
Rebecca Rhynhart is an American politician from Pennsylvania. A member of the Democratic Party, she serves as the City Controller of Philadelphia. Prior to running for City Controller, Rhynhart worked in Philadelphia city government and in the private sector.
The Portland city auditor is one of the six citywide elected positions in Portland, Oregon. The auditor is the only elected official functionally independent of City Council and accountable only to the public. The auditor exists "to promote open and accountable government by providing independent and impartial reviews, access to public information, and services for City government and the public." The current auditor is Simone Rede.
The 2023 Denver mayoral election will be held on April 4, 2023 to elect the mayor of Denver, Colorado, with a runoff on June 6 if necessary. The election will be officially nonpartisan. Incumbent Democratic mayor Michael Hancock is term-limited and cannot seek re-election to a fourth term in office.
The 2023 Philadelphia City Council elections will be held November 7, 2023 for elections of all seats in the Philadelphia City Council. The Democratic Party currently has a super-majority on the council. It will take place on the same day as the 2023 Philadelphia mayoral election and other local elections in the Commonwealth.
