The Granada City Orchestra (in Spanish: Orquesta Ciudad de Granada, OCG) is a Spanish orchestra based in Granada, Spain. Its primary concert venue is the Auditorio Manuel de Falla.

The City of Granada and the provincial council of Andalusia founded the OCG in 1988 at the initiative of Patrick Meadows and Antonio Navarro, the Director of the Auditorio Manuel de Falla. Misha Rachlevsky was the founding director and artistic director. Juan de Udeata was the orchestra's principal conductor from 1990 to 1994. Subsequent principal conductors have been Josep Pons (1994–2004), Jean-Jacques Kantorow (2004–2008) and Andrea Marcon, a specialist in baroque music. Lucas Macías Navarro is the current artistic director. [1]

The OCG has recorded commercially for such labels as harmonia mundi.

<i>La vida breve</i> (opera)

La vida breve is an opera in two acts and four scenes by Manuel de Falla to an original Spanish libretto by Carlos Fernández-Shaw. Local (Andalusian) dialect is used. It was written between August 1904 and March 1905, but not produced until 1913. The first performance was given at the Casino Municipal in Nice on 1 April 1913. Paris and Madrid performances followed, later in 1913 and in 1914 respectively. Claude Debussy played a major role in influencing Falla to transform it from the number opera it was at its Nice premiere to an opera with a more continuous musical texture and more mature orchestration. This revision was first heard at the Paris premiere at the Opéra-Comique in December 1913, and is the standard version.

The Three-Cornered Hat is a ballet choreographed by Léonide Massine to music by Manuel de Falla. It was commissioned by Sergei Diaghilev and premiered in 1919. It is not only a ballet with Spanish setting but one that also employs the techniques of Spanish dance instead of classical ballet.

<i>El amor brujo</i> Ballet by Manuel de Falla

El amor brujo is a ballet by Manuel de Falla to a libretto by María de la O Lejárraga García, although for years it was attributed to her husband Gregorio Martínez Sierra. It exists in three versions as well as a piano suite drawn from four of its movements. Andalusian in character, its music includes the celebrated Danza ritual del fuego , the Canción del fuego fatuo and the Danza del terror. Its songs are in Andalusian Spanish.

Nights in the Gardens of Spain, G. 49, is a piece of music by the Spanish composer Manuel de Falla. Falla was Andalusian and the work refers to the Hispano-Arabic past of this region (Al-Andalus).
