Clan Destined is an American hip hop group from Atlanta, Georgia that formed in 2002. The group is composed of Dustin Teague and Yamin Semali, better known by their stage names DT and AmDex, respectively. Both members are rappers, producers, DJs, and multi-instrumentalists. [1]
DT and AmDex are both originally from North Carolina, but they met at Morehouse College in Atlanta in 2002. Prior to their meeting, AmDex was already a member of an extensive music collective of emcees and producers formerly called Vinyl Junkies Clique (or, The VJC). The collective has spawned notable alum and spinoffs in the indie and progressive hip-hop circuits, including P.U.D.G.E., Sum, The Milky Way, The Difference Machine, DJ 2-Tone Jones (Shaolin Jazz), Mario "X-Man" Prins and Jesse "Xro" Pinkney, founder of SoulPublicRadio.com. DT was inducted shortly thereafter. The VJC went on to create the record label VJC Recordings through which they released Strange Arrangement, the only full-length release featuring all members of the collective. [2]
In 2007, the group released its well-received debut album Abbracadamn!!! on Domination Recordings. Later that year, the independent rap label Rawkus named Clan Destined as one of the 50 indie rap prospects in the country. The group released And for Our Next Trick...The Remix EP, a collection of remixes from Abbracadamn!!! in addition to new recordings, to be featured on the Rawkus 50 Project in 2007. [3]
In 2010, Clan Destined released the album A Story Never Told: F#$% a Mixtape and was voted "Best Atlanta-Based Hip Hop Group" by WRFG's The Beatz and Lyrics Show. [4]
The group released its most recent album Self Titled on January 22, 2011. [5] It was given a rating of 5 out of 5 stars in Creative Loafing the following week. [6]
Clan Destined's live performance style is characterized by witty rhymes, skillful turntablism, and improvised production involving the use of MPCs, keyboards, and drums. [7] The group has shared stages with RJD2, Del tha Funkee Homosapien, Devin the Dude, Sound Tribe Sector Nine, People Under The Stairs, KRS-One, Count Bass D, GZA, Sadat X and various other artists.

Priority Records is an American distribution company and record label known for artists including N.W.A, Ice Cube, MC Ren, Eazy-E, Master P, Snoop Dogg, Mos Def, Silkk the Shocker, Jay-Z, Paris, Mack 10, 504 Boyz, Brotha Lynch Hung, C-Murder, Mia X, Westside Connection, and Ice-T. It also distributed hip hop record labels including Death Row Records, Hoo-Bangin' Records, No Limit Records, Posthuman Records, Rap-A-Lot Records, Rawkus Records, Roc-A-Fella Records, Ruthless Records Duck Down Records, and Wu-Tang Records. According to Billboard, "few record labels were as important to the rise of West Coast hip hop as Priority Records".
Although the music scene of Atlanta is rich and varied, the city's production of hip-hop music has been especially noteworthy, acclaimed, and commercially successful. In 2009, The New York Times called Atlanta "hip-hop's center of gravity", and the city is home to many famous hip hop, R&B, and neo soul musicians.
Soundbombing II is the second installment in Rawkus Records' Soundbombing compilation series, released by the label on May 18, 1999. Mixed by DJ Babu and J Rocc of Beat Junkies, the album included tracks from a variety of artists, both Rawkus' signees and popular artists from other labels.
Hated on Mostly is the second studio album by American Southern hip hop sextet Crime Mob from Atlanta. It was released March 20, 2007 via BME Recordings, G'$ Up Entertainment, Crunk Incorporated, Reprise Records and Warner Bros. Records. Production was handled by Detral "Doc Jam" Treadwell, DJ Montay, Lil Jon, and group members Lil' Jay, Cyco Blac and M.I.G., with Lil Scrappy serving as executive producer. It features guest appearances from Lil Scrappy, Pimp C, Bohagon and Mike Jones. The album debuted at number 31 on the U.S. Billboard 200. Its lead single, "Rock Yo Hips", reached number 30 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
The discography of Yasiin Bey, formerly known as Mos Def, an American rapper, consists of four solo albums, two compilation albums, and several singles. Bey began his hip hop career in 1994 in the underground rap group UTD alongside his sibling group members DCQ and Ces, after which he pursued a solo career. In 1998, he made his mainstream debut on Rawkus Records in the duo Black Star with rapper Talib Kweli. "Definition", the lead single from Black Star's self-titled debut album, reached No. 60 on the Billboard Hot 100 and No. 3 on the Hot Rap Singles chart.
"Ruff Ryders' Anthem" is a song by American rapper DMX, released on May 5, 1998, as the third single from his debut studio album It's Dark and Hell Is Hot (1998). In 2008, the song was ranked at number 79 on VH1's 100 Greatest Songs of Hip Hop. In the US, upon the song's initial release it had originally peaked at number 93 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, before reaching a new peak of number 16 following DMX's death in April 2021.
Corndogorama is a yearly music festival held in Atlanta, Georgia. Founded by Dave Railey in 1996, it features performances from local bands including Indie rock, Hip hop, Metal, and Electronic groups.
Jason Christopher Medeiros, better known as Mr. J. Medeiros, is an American rapper, record producer, and songwriter. In addition to releasing music under his own name, he is a founding member of the hip hop group The Procussions, one half of the electronic/hip hop duo AllttA, and the lead singer of the punk-rap group thebandknives.
The Justus League was a hip hop collective from North Carolina founded in 1999. The collective consists of a total of 15 members (8 emcees, 5 producers, 1 DJ, and 1 consultant aka "Minister of Opinion". The emcees are: Cesar Comanche, Chaundon, Phonte, Rapper Big Pooh, Median, L.E.G.A.C.Y., Sean Boog, and Edgar Allen Floe. The producers are: 9th Wonder, Khrysis, Son of Yorel, Eccentric, and Big Dho. The DJ is DJ Flash Gordon, and the Consultant/Minister of Opinion is Mike Burvick. Although material isn't released as a collective, each member works actively in the music scene releasing solo albums, running their own record labels, along with other business endeavors.
L.E.G.A.C.Y. is a rapper from Fort Bragg, North Carolina, and former member of the Justus League collective.
Christopher Frederick Tyson, better known as Khrysis, is an American hip hop producer and occasional rapper. He is best known as a former member of the Justus League collective, being one half of the duo The Away Team with Sean Boog. He also operates as an in-house producer for The Soul Council, 9th Wonder's producer collective, and acts as one half of the duo Jericho Jackson with Elzhi.
Marcus Vialva, better known by his stage name Shabaam Sahdeeq, is an American alternative hip hop artist from Brooklyn, New York City. He first reached fame with Rawkus Records and was featured alongside artists including Busta Rhymes, Redman, Method Man, Kool G Rap, Common, Mos Def and Eminem. Shabaam Sahdeeq is notable for his work on the Soundbombing and Lyricist Lounge series in the late 1990s and the early 2000s. In 1998, Sahdeeq collaborated with DJ Spinna, Mr. Complex and Apani B to form the hip-hop collective Polyrhythm Addicts, a supergroup renowned for its pivotal role in the explosion of late 1990s indie hip-hop. The single "Not Your Ordinary: gained a positive critical and commercial reception, which paved the way for their first album, Rhyme Related, released in 1999, and widely regarded as a hip-hop classic. After this success, the group disbanded to focus on their individual careers. Sahdeeq's distinct voice and unique delivery catapulted him to mainstream stardom on the "Simon Says" Remix alongside label mate Pharoahe Monch. He is currently releasing music independently. Shabaam Sahdeeq's recent work has been receiving rave reviews in some of the biggest hip-hop publications.
Custom Made is an American hip hop trio from Los Angeles, California known for their hardcore reality based mixtape series, Street Cinema. They were key players in helping to establish a mixtape scene in Los Angeles during the early 2000s (decade). The group is made up of emcees Bluff, Element and Scavie Scoobs.
Troy Donald Jamerson, better known by his stage name Pharoahe Monch, is an American rapper known for his complex lyrics, intricate delivery, and internal and multisyllabic rhyme schemes.
Anomaly is the seventh studio album by American Christian hip hop artist Lecrae, released on September 9, 2014, through Reach Records. The album features appearances from Crystal Nicole, Kari Jobe, and For King & Country, along with label-mate Andy Mineo. Anomaly met with a positive critical reception, and the song "Nuthin", released for streaming as a single on July 1, 2014, was nominated for the 2014 BET Hip Hop Awards in the best Impact Track category. The album also fared well commercially, debuting at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with over 88,000 copies sold. It also debuted at No. 1 on the Top Gospel Albums chart, marking the first time that any artist has ever topped both the 200 and Gospel charts. Anomaly won Rap/Hip Hop Album of the Year at the 2015 GMA Dove Awards, and Rap, Hip Hop Gospel CD of the Year at the 2015 Stellar Awards. Two songs earned a nomination for the 2015 Grammy Awards; "All I Need Is You" was nominated for Best Rap Performance, and "Messengers", featuring For King & Country, won Best Contemporary Christian Music Performance/Song.
Mighty High Coup is a Hip Hop Group from Atlanta, GA made up of members SOS, Ricky Raw, and Amir "A Bomb" Herron. The group is known throughout Atlanta's Hip Hop scene for their performances and for their members involvement in the Atlanta music scene. They launched both //404 Day// and //808 Fest//, mostly coordinated by member Ricky Raw in an effort to unite and showcase all local artists who create or perform bass heavy Hip Hop or EDM.
Back to Dust is a studio album by Albany, New York-based rapper Sev Statik and Atlanta-based producer DJ Dust, originally released on October 9, 2007, through Rawkus Records. It was the fourth studio release by Sev Statik and the second studio release for DJ Dust. Back to Dust features numerous guest appearances, including Manchild and Playdough of Deepspace5, Theory Hazit, Supastition, LMNO of The Visionaries, and Raphi, Griffin, and Triune of Tunnel Rats. The album was selected by Rawkus for inclusion in its "Rawkus 50" promotional campaign, and was released as a digital download. A physical version of the album was released on July 7, 2008, through Braille's Hip Hop IS Music label. Back to Dust met with critical acclaim. In 2010, Theory Hazit released a remixed version of the album.
