Clara Manuela da Luz Delgado Jesus is an ambassador of Cape Verde. From 2021 she was the ambassador to Switzerland, the United Nations and the World Trade Organisation
da Luz Delgado took her master's degree at Kyiv University. [1] In 2009 she had been working for three years at a ministry when she was appointed to be a Chargé d'Affaires in her country's embassy in Luxembourg. [2]
On 18 December 2014 she was among a group of diplomats who were invited to the Convent of Cinqfontaines which had played the part of an old people's home for elderly Jews who had previously lived in Luzembourg from 1941 to 1943. The people moved there were, in time, transported to ghettos and concentration camps. The "old people's home" was then closed. [3]
In 2015 she was promoted to be a Minister Plenipotentiary. [2] For four years starting in 2016 she was as advisor to Jorge Carlos Fonseca, the President of Cape Verde.
In 2021 she became the Ambassador to Switzerland and the Permanent Representative of Cabo Verde to the United Nations and World Trade Organization. The Cape Verde embassy for Switzerland is in Geneva. [4]
In June 2023 the World Trade Organisation's Trade and Gender Informal Working Group published its 2023-2024 plan. She and Simon Manley of the UK were new, joining El Salvador's Ana Patricia Benedetti Zelaya, as co-chairs of the Working Group. They replaced Athaliah Lesiba Molokomme and Einar Gunnarsson. [5]
In October 2023 she was at the World Economic Forum where she spoke about sustainable development and about gender issues relating to Foreign direct investment. [6] She speaks Russian, English, French and Portuguese.
Cape Verde follows a policy of nonalignment and seeks cooperative relations with all friendly states. Angola, Brazil, the People's Republic of China, Cuba, France, Germany, Portugal, Senegal, Russia, South Korea and the United States maintain embassies in Praia.
The Cape Verde national football team represents Cape Verde in men's international football, and is controlled by the Cape Verdean Football Federation. The team has never qualified for the FIFA World Cup, but has qualified for four Africa Cup of Nations tournaments, in 2013, 2015, 2021 and 2023. They have reached the quarter finals in 2013 and 2023.
Cape Verdeans in the Netherlands consist of migrants from Cape Verde to the Netherlands and their descendants. As of 2022, figures from Statistics Netherlands showed 23,150 people of Cape Verdean origin in the Netherlands.

Primary school education in Cape Verde is mandatory between the ages of 6–14 and free for children ages 6–12. In 1997, the gross primary enrollment rate was 148.8%. Primary school attendance rates were unavailable for Cape Verde as of 2001. While enrollment rates indicate a level of commitment to education, they do not always reflect children's participation in school. Textbooks have been made available to 90% of school children, and 90% of teachers have attended in-service teacher training. Its literacy rate as of 2010 ranges from 75 to 80%, the highest in West Africa south of the Sahara.

Cape Verde–Guinea Bissau relations refers to the bilateral relationship between the Republic of Cape Verde and the Republic of Guinea-Bissau. Cape Verde is an island country about 900 km north-west of Guinea-Bissau, a coastal West African country. Both were colonies of the Portuguese Empire and they campaigned together for independence with a plan for unification, but the countries separated after 1980. The Women's Organization of Cape Verde is a Cape Verdean non-governmental organization dedicated to defending women's rights and promoting gender equality. It is recognized as the first feminist association in the country. Among its founders are women like Josefina Chantre and Paula Fortes.
